I dont think calling 3 vets is good enough, you should call the list above!! (good idea to post that!), and plus, you should have a list of vets ready with their opening/closing times and their locations so that you can get their ASAP if you need to so there is no time wasted trying to find a reptile vet when you really need one. I dont think 2 hours is really over the top to drive, my boyfriend did an 8 hour drive to take our gecko to the vet and look after her because I was leaving on a business trip and she was sick...and on another note, you shouldnt force feed her because she could have parasites (you never know) and force feeding will just make it worse! and its so stressful for them and you cant expect them to get better when they are under alot of stress

Young man I stand by my comments you have NO business owning any pet if you are not willing to seek vet attention when one is ill. Your young so I guess I can't really expect you to get that. Which leads me to my next comment and that is leave it to a kid to think you can recover on candy bars and milk shakes LOL Wax worms are nothing but empty fat calories. The least you could do for this Leo if your not willing to call even ONE of the what 10 vets listed above to do atleast a fecal exam... is make this Leo a proper "slurry" cause your not going to make it better feeding 10 waxworms daily! :main_no: :main_no: :main_no: :main_no:

http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=54742

Also you point out you "healthy" reptiles, well just an FYI its probably NOT a good idea to house a Leo that looks like it very well could have parasites by the look of its stick thin tail and protruding back bone, right next to your other herps. Just sayin! Call a Vet!!!

What the hell i dont feed 10 waworms daily. Your honestly NO help. I know my pets. You have no idea how limited my resources are. Okay. The gecko is in separate sterile bin. Being young has nothing to do with my pets. Calling a vet...what will that do. Do this, do that. This gecko is doing a 100 times better than the first day i got it. I guess am doing something right. The only thing you did is tell me the same thing which i refuse to do. I love my pets to death and you have no idea. You can not tell me how much i care for my pets.

Any vet can do a fecal float to see if the gecko has parasites. If nothing else you should find a local vet that can to the fecal test for you to determine if she has them.

I don't know if you can get this ware you live but I would say your gecko needs some sort of.medication the only thing other than a vet I can recommend is the use of http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00477RPHI/ref=mp_s_a_19?qid=1316578972&sr=1-19 or http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0025YAIOM/ref=aw_d_detail?pd=1&qid=1316578972&sr=1-19 and hope for the best. but I'm not sure you can get that ware your from and not sure if there's a equivalent. Keep us.posted and let us know how she/he is doing.

P.s your other reptiles look in good health espesh your dragon! No one has said your not giving the proper care for your pets there just trying to say your gecko might need medicine.

Good luck with your reptile dude!

I know your trying to help but please delete that link to a medication. Giving medication without knowing what your treating and proper dosing will kill a reptile.

Really? It's legal medication that's sold in most vets in the UK, reptiles have a very good immune system I'm sure a 5ml dosage over 5 days wouldn't kill it, or they wouldn't sell it. You can buy cat and dogs antibiotic over the counter and still run the risk of ODing them, read the instructions.

I guess you don't have these in the usa.

Here in the US you cannot just walk in a store and buy prescription medication. It is dangerous. Antibiotics can be harsh on a reptiles system, especially if dehydrated. Antibiotics not only kill the bad bacteria but also some good bacteria needed for digestion. You can overdose or not give enough which will end up in resistance. There are hundreds of parasites. They must be treated accordingly depending on the parasite found. How can you treat without a diagnosis.

This thread started as an impaction issue. Has that been resolved? Moving on to potential parasites, if a person doesn't have experience in gecko rehabilitation and needs help dealing with impaction (usually a simple issue)- why would anyone recommend they obtain a prescription medication for an un-diagnosed illness? In case you wonder how a person gains experience.........everyone I know who rehabs geckos and other lizards has learned these procedures from qualified reptile veterinarians, and have some sort of relationship with their vet in order to contact them with questions or a sudden appointment if needed.

Just because a person has some healthy herps doesn't mean they're capable of rehabilitating a sick one. I've seen too many times on this forum where members give specific information to help and the person asking cuts every corner just to do a half-assed quick fix.

If you clicked on the link you would see one link is for a common parasite that lizards get, and the other is for worms. He said he used homely remedys so I thought illed put a link of what our market has on offer,

I don't think it is parasites I do think this gecko is impacted, and seriously lacks vitamins and could possibly do with a bit more calcium. I'm not a gecko doctor though.

Could you tell me the weight of your gecko? And the age if you know it?
