How do you guys keep track of your reptiles and their information? Do you have a notebook that you write in? Or do you keep track of it all on the computer? Is there a good free software I could use? Or is it worth the money to pay for it?

Things get a little crazy here sometimes, so i'd like to keep track of things such as weight, food, last shed, breeding activity, health issues, etc...

I use Degei. It works really well and lets you keep all kinds of records. It was originally made for snakes, but you can add species, morphs, etc to it to make it for any reptiles. It's free but there are a LOT of annoying downloads. If you use it, make sure you have a lot of time on your hands to download/install the first time.

I use both hardcopy(note books) and PC systems for record keeping. For the computer I use a combination of Metzcal (www.metzcal.com) and Excel spreadsheets. I've tried Degai in the past and wasn't all that impressed. Metzcal is more complicated to setup, but once you get it installed and the basic info put in it runs very smoothly. Oh, and it is also free. :)

I thought about getting one of those free programs...

But, of course, none of them work on Macs.

Before I was record keeping in a notebook but I've switched to my computer and will just print everything out as it's much much easier. Not to mention, my collection is very small right now so it's still very easy to manage.

I like this basic set up.

I just keep a notebook next to my beardie's cage. It reminds me to enter all the info daily, otherwise I would forget to! I weigh him every day (since he's still very young), track which supplements I use for am and pm feedings, excretion, and whether I spray him down with water or give him a bath that day. I used to use Excel, but I would always forget to enter the information.

I tried Metzcal, but it's geared towards snakes. I'm a gecko person. I also tried Vyper Gecko Pro, but they're not selling it right now. Which sucks because the demo was amazing.

Degei I have not tried. I need something that's moderately easy to work with. Any other suggestions?
