I just use Microsoft Excel. I have 3 seperate spreadsheets. One for gecko records like morph, d.o.b., hets. One for their weight records when i weigh them once-twice a month. The other for breeding records.

I curently am doing every thing on my laptop on a basic spread sheet. I keep a back up on a memory card and a hard copy of everyting.

That's What I've been doing.. It's been working so far. I leave an extra column for any notes that I need to add, especially about updates on eggs, if their starting to look bad. This way I know when they start to decline.

I keep simple tub cards with Sex, Age, Breeder, Morph, and ID #. I don't tape them on the tubs, because when I move males around it's easier to just move the card with, in case I need the empty tub in the mean time. And, having the card taped on confuses me certain days.

I use those clear soft baseball covers and put blank business cars with a double stripe of red (female) or blue (male). I have numbers and the morph on the card.

Thanks guys, KHGeckos - Id love to see a screen shot if you could take one.

haha, so I guess its time for me to share ours. so, I have come up with the ridiculously complected system [over this weekend], where I assign each "morph" or project a number [not many of our geckos have names] Ex: Mack snow is 1, blizzard is 2, RAPTOR is 3, etc. One for each type of albino, yadda yadda.

So, each male gets his own spreadsheet page even tho the format is the same. Our hypo snow male is the first page, sausage fingers, our blizzard male is the second page, etc.
Each group is numbered, again by what morph it is. So the blizzard male's groups all start with 2, and blizzard X mack snow would be group 2-1, blizzard X blizzard = group 2-2, blizzard X bell = 2-6, etc.
The eggs will be in individual boxes that have many dividers so each clutch is separate [1 box per male] with the group number, and egg number on each egg. So in box 2, eggs that are numbered 6-15a and 6-15b are the 15th clutch between the blizzard and a bell, and I already know that the offspring are going to be normals 100% het bell/bliz. a and b is so I can look back through my records and images, and know what animals are clutch mates. On my end, each gecko gets photographed at hatching, along with its tag, and it gets its own folder. I *try* to take monthly updated pictures of each animal to show the progression, but we will see how well that goes over next year.

Here is the outline of the spreadsheet

And here is the spreadsheet with explanations and fake information.

here are a couple more

David pulls all the boxes [our boxes have lids on them] at the same time for the twice weekly feeding and cleaning, at which time, we record weights, and other information [like if a female is ovulating or whatever] and he just dictates information to me, while I enter it into the database or spreadsheet. And when he is labeling eggs, he already needs it open to show him what number should go on them, so its easy just to add a date.

I also use a program called Degei, designed by a friend of mine. Best $20 I ever spent!

Even allows me to keep photographic record of every animal in my collection.

I know sounds crazy, but I do not need any more info than the geckos hatch date, and which mother they came from. That is the only info on my hatchlings tags.

My breeders are all known by memory alone. I know where they came from, around when they hatched, and all of their genetics. Thats about it.

i jsut made a "beginner" package of spreadsheets that have some formulated cells and AUTMOATIC COLOR CODING. They are for: weight, general notes and feeding if anybody wants a copy. I sent it to Tamera but she hasen't posted it yet and IDK how to do it :(

Uhhh I didnt use a code it was on the newest excel. Im not that good and had to ask the IT guy at our office to help me.:D If you guys want copies PM me an email address and tell me what you want your parameters to be (red if they loose more than x grams, yellow if its between x and x, and green if they gain more than x) Its under conditional formating if you wanna figure it out yourself. ;) I do know how to format on the new and old version so tell me wich version you have too please.

my latest ideas....

hey... these are my latest ideas for my records...

I have a project "ID"- a hatch date, and a hatchling letter(A or B) that all go into the hatchlings final full ID... I hope I make some sense... (for example, the first hatchling would be YuAl01-41708-A). Then, if I need any other info, lay date, temp sex, it is all in my chart as well.

check it out and let me know what you think. :)
