not sure what they are called, but box turtles love them, I think they are rollie pollies, found under leaf litter.
wondering if leopard geckos can have them?

Are they Rollie Pollies or Sow Bugs there is a difference. They are both Isopods though. Sow Bugs are the ones that can't curl up into a ball and have a much softer exoskeleton. If the Leo will eat them I do not see why they can't be used as feeder. They are feeders for many other types of In sect eating pets.

I will be breeding Tangerine Isopods here very soon. They are great waste clean up crew and the Tangerine ones are cool looking.

I feed rolly polies (pill bugs) but they have to be captive bred. They're isopods which (crustacians) and are REALLY high in calcium. My leos love them.

Let me know when you start selling the tangerine ones.
I was JUST inquiring about these last night on my crestie boards.

I want to get some to feed my crestie, but most importantly, my Chahoua because my chewie will eat anything that MOVES.:D
And their exoskeleton is 100% calcium.

I would imagine captive bred these would be EXCELLENT for breeding females, if they eat them.

how to get them captive bred

so its not possible to get rid of all the parasites if i breed the outside rollies for a few months and then move the babies to a different container and let them breed for a few months?

Just to be safe, I'd cycle them through two generations. But yeah, it's possible to do that. Just don't feed the wild-caught ones to your geckos by mistake.

alright thanks, have to figure out how to do that, as I dont know anything about them yet

Oh, it's super, super easy to keep a colony.

You need some sand, some topsoil, and various compost items. Mix everything together and make sure it's moist, but not wet. Rollies eat decaying vegetable matter--so potato peels, carrot peels, apple peels, banana peels, orange rinds, etc are all ok to compost into the mixture. As long as you keep the container moist, they will flourish. No specific temp needs to be kept. Mold growing in the container is okay as long as it's white and the container smells "earthy" not...well not dead lol.

You won't be able to notice newly hatched rollies for the first month or so as they're really small--but they just look like miniature versions of their parents. Once you see them you can move them to another container.

Like I said, super simple :)
