I spoke with Kelli this morning before the conversations with Ron, and basically this is what I said...
- first of all, he has a right to be upset with the bashing. Any of us would feel the same way if it was us. Going off on Kelli and bringing up the tragedy of losing Hayden is a real low blow. Does saying something nice to Kelli during that horrible time make him immune from being an asshole?
- anyone with as much notoriety as RT should know that there is bound to be folks talking about him and his projects. Some will be positive, and some will be negative. It's part of this business. But, not everyone thinks he is the second coming of Christ. We are dealing with egos here, and RT has one of the biggest.
- the reptile industry as a whole, and specifically the leopard gecko community, is quite opinionated... especially when it comes to morph genetics and ethics. Discussions along these lines can get VERY heated, and if he can't stand the heat, he needs to quit playing with matches with the big kids.
- The vast majority of breeders today have much better knowledge of genetics than RT does, and is getting wise to his marketing ploys and antics. How on earth can you have a 'het' Diablo Blanco? We are looking at two known recessive traits in a Blazing Blizzard, but the jury is still out on whether or not eye traits, stripe, and reverse-stripe, are in fact recessive. Can we really have 'hets' for polygenic traits like these? LOTS of folks have serious doubts.
- If the Diablo Blanco debut didn't go the way he anticipated, it has NOTHING to do with what anyone on this forum said. It's his own fault, and he's just trying to pass the blame on anyone that doesn't get on their hands and knees and bow down toward Boerne, Texas five times a day.
- "The thread" was removed, people warned, and the TOS of this website were changed as a result of all the bashing. The "Business Inquiries" forum was also removed. Kelli did what she needed to do to put a stop to it. She is NOT responsible for what people think, feel, or say.
- He has no legal ground to walk on over this issue. Besides, negative publicity would do MUCH more damage to Ron's precious reputation. In order for anyone to have a valid libel case, they would first have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that what was said about him was deliberately and maliciously intended to hurt his business.
I could go on and on with my own personal rant about RT, but the bottom line is that he is becoming a joke. He really IS showing his true colors.
