why does rexy scratch me every now and then? he is perfectly happy (and trust me, i know he's happy because i can always tell when he is mad) and out of nowhere when he's walking on my hands, he just stops and scratches his back foot on me about 3 or 4 times (it doesn't really hurt that much yet, but when he grows up i'm afraid it really will!) do your geckos do this? and why?

I've seen my gecko scratch herself like a dog would lol. Could be itchy I guess.

haha no i mean he scratches me!! even breaks skin! with his back leg, he pushes it against my skin (kinda like after a dog poops... the dog will usually walk up a bit and "flick" dirt onto the poop with their hind legs) i feel like i'm sounding so confusing trying to explain this haha it's kinda hard to explain!

Reptile behavior, now there's a field I wouldn't want to get into...:main_laugh:

Maybe it has something to do with the hair on the arm? Since apparently other geckos do it as well the only thing I can come up with is that they're scratching the hair they feel on their feet...? Not that i'm saying you have a hairy arm, but you know what I mean right? :p

I was never great with animal behavior.

Some of my adult males do it too; I think they're doing it to gain better hold of the "ground". Probably because your skin is too slippery for them, lol.

I agree that it is either to gain traction or because they feel the hair on your arm. I don't have particularly hairy arms, but every once in a while one will flick it's back foot and move to a different spot. I know they do that when trying to gain traction.
