I have a gecko that has sustained a serious injury and have some questions, I am looking for someone with experience in treating injured geckos to pls send me a msg. I mean no offense to anyone but I'm not looking for just the regular type care advise or the judgemental type comments that tend to leak into these types of threads. This post is not in exchange for proper vet care. I am considering culling this gecko and am not looking to start a debate chain in any way, I am looking for advise/opinions on whether people with more expertise feel these injuries are possibly recoverable or not .. please private msg or email me.

I am sure this is not what you prefer to hear but only a qualified vet can determine the possibility of recovery after an exam has been done.

Look, make it easier and POST THE DARN issue or PM someone you trust, dont make a ridiculos thread. Take the gecko to a VET ASAP if its that bad.

Agree, if it is that bad stop dicking around and go to a vet. If not, post it here.

does that mean you have a gecko who is just sitting there in pain? omg, that is extremely cruel and inhumane. Please take him to an pet hospital ER the has to do test to make a desicion.

people's responses are the reason why people dont like to post threads here, but then again they shouldnt be looking for remedies on forums if it is a serious matter. I am unawere if your situation is if you dont want to take the gecko to a vet or if you cant afford one.If you cant afford to care for a leopard gecko then please dont own one, but since you already took the liberty of owning one then you only have 3 options, so you can either take him to the vet, rehome the gecko, or put it out of its misery because it isnt right to allow anything to suffer. I am only saying this because i never heard of vets going on forums to go help people with their dying geckos especially for fun or for free they have more important things to do sorry.

The reason we are replying like this is simply because he made a useless post about a suffering gecko. He should have just PM'd someone if he wasn't going to actually ask for help in the form of a proper thread.

i dont think randomly pm'ing people would be the way to go. I dont think this person had people to turn to which is why people seek help here, dont get me wrong i completely agree with you guys that the ONLY CORRECT way is to go to a vet.

But when things are stated like this, it isnt to the extreme or anything but ive seen really bad comments and then people are scared to be judged when they seek for help. Yes it is wrong that the gecko is suffering but comments shouldnt be all like this. Again for serious problem geckos should go to vets, but with minor things people should post here if they have questions where they can actually be helped, but they might not post because of all the criticism.

he needs to tell us whats wrong. It may be simple and easier to fix then we think. Most of us know a basic first aid for leos or can reffrence. Its a waste of time making us worry about a sick leo. Its stupid for us all to just PM when we have threads for a reason. There is NO exscuse. You make it sound like we never get things answered in threads. Well we wont in this one unless Q.s are asked and info is given.

Critisizm is given where its do. If you are at fault then you WILL be critsized rightfuly. If its not your fault you wont be. Honestly i havnt seen things go all out attack mode and i would certainly speak up if they did.

Obviously it was serious because he mentioned culling. Nobody is going to think like that over a little cut. he also said serious injury. of course he will be critasized because the right thing to do is take him to the vet and not go on a forum to ask questions. We are not vets and can't examine thru the computer.

If I knew who the trsuted and more experienced people were on here I would gladly just PM them direclty to avoid the usual msgs that usually follow when people post any sort of medical issue. And yes I have replied to mature PM's. I am not looking to reply to every negative comment that any injury threads tends to invoke. This issue has been addressed by a vet, TWICE. So please don't assume this is the usual situation where someone doesn't know what they are doing and are too cheap or inexperienced to properly care for the herps they choose to keep. If anyone has any experience with geckos that have suffered an injury and despite all the proper vet/medical care appears to suffer some sort of neurological order afterwards please PM me. If not then please don't msg me. This gecko is not sitting and suffering or I would have culled her immediatly.

Wow. You know what? I actually thought about sending you a message, I thought I might be able to give you some ideas, but not if you're going to cop an attitude like that. I don't appreciate you bashing this forum and at the same time, coming here asking folks for advice.

I do not want to get into a debate on this forum. I am not looking for basic first aid, I have a vet far more qualified at giving advise then just people who happen to keep and breed leos but this appears to be a neurological issue that cannot be vet treated. And this is not my leo (well I guess it is now) which is another reason people hesitate to post on this forum because of the reaction people give, they automatically get all up in arms as if this is just another newbie who doesn't know how to care for the herps they choose to keep. This is NOT the case and the reason why I asked for advise from experienced keepers who currently keep geckos with long term care issues.

I'm sorry but your completely ridiculous, if you posted the problem you would of already received alot of experienced PM's. And I agree with Dimidiata, who do you think we are?, a bunch of savages that will automatically bash you for a stupid reason like inheriting a gecko and star assuming left to right?. Hope your gecko pulls through. The way you addressed this is beyond stupid, you could of posted the problem, not read the thread and just wait for PM's. Anyhow, hope your little one pulls through good luck.

Ill agree that some people do get armed when they read, BUT there are plenty of us that will bash them in the skull about it. I would like to help you thus ill shoot you a PM, though it really depends on the EXACT issue. Those really experienced people, dont have the time to PM or arnt on here enough. We are a communtiy, we work best as so. The most i have to offer is my 1st year in vet assisting.
