SG x SHTCT question

I would like to focus on Sunglows (SG) and SHTCT. Naturally, I am thinking of crossing the SG x SHTCT.

My SHTCT has Tangerine - Yellow skin.
My SG has Tangerine - Red skin.

I’m hoping to cross them so that I can get some Red color into my SHTCT.

But, many of my “seniors” in the hobby advice me against it, but were not able to give me any good reasons.

Can anyone give me more insight into why I should not do it? Or if I’m able to improve the color of my SHTCT this way?

i dont see anything wrong with it, due you have pics. I'm assuming the sg is an albino because thats a more reasonable way to create hets

"A Sunglow is a SHTCT Albino. They come in all three albino strains."

With that cross you should get 100% SHTCT het albino (assuming your SHTCT is not het for albino)

Then cross the offspring back to the Sunglow to get sunglows
OR cross the reddest ones to the SHTCT or to each other.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't try this. It might take several generations to get the colors you are after.

I see no problem with it either, unless your SHTCT was het for Bell or Patternless or something like that...that's when it becomes a no-no because you'd be crossing albino strains...
