Should I change my name?

OK, when I first came up with the Website name "USAGeckos" I never thought that I would be keeping/breeding Geckos this long and have so many, or even having tables at Reptile Shows, etc.. So, when I thought up the name I didn't put much effort into it (Obviously...USAGeckos...boring).

So, I was thinking about changing my name to something more catchy and fun, not sure what it would be.

So my question is, I have had the name USAGeckos for about 5 years now (Wow, time flies!), do you think it would hurt what little of a reputation I have if I changed it, or do you think that I could change it, but advertise like crazy, and keep my USAGeckos website up, but just have the front page point to my new site. Would that be ok.

If you can think of a cool, but mature, name let me know :)

No, I think Jeanne is a very nice name! Lol just kidding. I think USAGeckos is a good name. My personal opinion is that crazy names give the impression of someone trying to use the name as a way to get noticed rather than the quality of what they produce. "Simple" names to me are more... trustworthy? Not sure if that is exactly how I mean it, but it's close enough.

I'd say keep the name, if you only had it for 1-2 years and you wanted to change then I'd say go for it.

IF you do decide to change it, keep the home page of the site now and just have people re-directed to the new site. After about a year or two get rid of the re-direct, every one should have the new address by then.

change your logo not your name. You want more flare? Design a gecko in USA colors to go on your home page. As for your name, it's simple & I can remember it...that's not an easy task ;)

Jeanne, you and USA Geckos are synonymous. I say don't change it! When I changed my business name from The Lizard Lady to Golden Gate Geckos about 5 years ago, it was a long time before people associated they were the same business. I'm glad I did change the name, but it was a hassle.

Once you earned your good reputation, you will always be associated by people who have dealt with you with The USA Geckos name. You should keep it and just think about other creative ways to market it to enhance the business for the future. :) The name is not boring anyways.

I agree with everyone. The name is good, everyone knows it all ready so put that creative effort into a new logo and look for your site. (It looks fine now, but since you want a change...)

I have talked to the lady that runs Chameleon Corral and she goes by the name of "Da Lizard Lady". Wierd, I would have thought the both of you were the same 5 years ago. I know better now of course. ;)

Well, I kinda went with Jeanine's idea and tried something out. Keep in mind 1) this was done extremely quickly, 2) I suck at this stuff, and 3) I don't have a good program to do it with. I used your little Mack Daddy just to give you an idea. Hope you like it.

I would just make the colors solid and not "see through".

if you do that it just looks like a drawing. I mean unless that's what she would want....Either way it needs to be done on a better program than Microsoft Paint, which is all I have.
