are albinos gennerally more shy then non-albinos? i have 5 geckos, 4 albinos and 1 non albino and the only one i ever see outside the hide is the non albino? i can pick them all up no problem but is seems the non albino is alot less shy. is this normal ?

and this goes for at night too with very low light so it isnt the eyes

You know what my albino is very shy too, but she isn't always hiding its more she doesn't like to be handled although when I do she doesn't try to run or jump anymore.

Some of mine are always in the hide and few of them are always outside the hide. They do not like hides at all and they love being picked up and handfed. Others see you and run in the hide. It is just the personality sometimes. Also I see that stuff change the more you pick up shyer leos.

Very interesting thread!!! I have never owned any albinos myself, but it's very interesting think that albinos could be more reclusive because of their light sensitivity...it makes perfect sense!!!

We had an albino once, and she was the friendlist gecko ever :main_yes: I think it all depends on how much handling the gecko has been given, how much light there is (as they are much more sensitive to light than normals), and it's overall personality.

I guess I'm going to find out. :) My little bell hatchling is a LOT jumpier and more prone to screeching than my (now grown) hypo carrot tail. She never hissed at me once when she was a baby, this little guy seems to think he is a crocodile.

I got an Albino Tremper about 11 days ago. Therefore awhile she was out & about but the last 5 days she's been in her moist hide. If i take her out she is okay with that & she will eat a few handfed crickets but then she goes right back in again. This is my only Gecko & my first one so I was just thinking they were all like this - Not much action  I know she's still new & all so time will tell. This was interesting reading everyone's statements.
