Sick Leo

Hello, I'm new and I needed some help with my sick Leo. I got him 8 months ago and every since I brought him home he really hasn't eatten much. His past owner told me he was born with a deformed eye and front legs but after an xray it was discover he has MBD which is what I suspected. It is really bad in his tail which you can really tell without the xray. His tail was like a zig zag. He started eatting a couple months ago but then stopped again so I took him out to check him over and his eyes where cloudy. I took him to the vet and she put him on Fortaz and gave me eye drops and liquid calium to give him. She said he had a 50/50 chance of recovering. I am supposed to go back this Thursday and he is not any better, he is actual a bit worse. I'm afraid that there won't be anything else we can do for him to help and I'll have to put him to sleep. If you have any ideas or you had a similar experience and could give me any help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

Well his appointment is this Thursday, and by the looks of it he will end up being put to sleep. He has is worse then he was before I started his treatment. He always keeps his eyes closed, they are still cloudy and he is very lethargic. He was 30 grams when I took him to the vet 2 weeks ago and he has clearly lost more weight. I don't know what else to do and I don't want him to suffer anymore.

If anyone has any helpful ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks.

I'm so sorry you and he are going through this. I wish I had some suggestions, but sometimes they are just too sick.

Have you had a fecal test done on him? Could be parasites maybe?

I haven't done a fecal test, I was going to when he wasn't eating but when he started up again I figured he was okay. Then shortly after his eyes got infected some how and he stopped eating again because he couldn't see.

I went to the vet today and the vet agreed that he was not getting any better and that his odds were not good. So after talking about it and thinking about how bad his MBD was and he has never eaten regularly plus the eye issue not getting better I opted to put him to sleep. I am very upset about this he was my first Leo and having to make the decision was heartbreaking.
