I have a plastic shelf system turned into a rack for my geckos. Well some how one got out and I am so worried and upset. I looked for three hours and I cant find him. I dont know what to do. I am scared to keep the rest of the geckos that are in the rack in there now, but what can I do? Go buy them each a 10 gallon tank? Please if anyone has any ideas on how I can find the missing gecko let me know. I would also appreciate suggestions on what to do with the other geckos living in the "rack". How much does a real rack system cost? Any suggestions on brand? I am so upset guys, I feel sick. Any info would help.

Oh no! :( I'm so sorry to read this! It's one of my fears as well, so I understand how you're feeling sick over it. Sorry, I don't have any pointers on finding him as I've never had this happen before, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. As for the others, do you have anything you could put over the tubs as makeshift lids until you can find more secure accommodations? Again, I'm so sorry this has happened and I hope you can find him soon!

Place little hides with water dishes around the room and in areas of the house. Check them throughout the day to see if he has found them. Good luck!

I've never had one escape, but I wouldnt think they would go very far.
I'm sure he will turn up.
Do you have cats?

No I dont have cats. He is safe as far as other animals are concerned. My geckos are all downstairs though and my basement is like a labyrinth. I look all the obvious places (under warm things) over and over again and never saw him, there are just so many places he could be, so many tiny little holes to curl up in. I didnt think he would go far either, but I looked everywhere close to the rack and no such luck. So does anyone have any suggestions on a cheep but decent real rack system? The ones I have looked at are so expensive, but seem so basic. If I was at all good at building things I would make one, but Im not. Anyone near Columbia Missouri wanna get payed to build me a rack?

Our favorite racks are from Reptile Basics, the Iris tubs fit snugly but they also come with pins you can lock them in with. You can see them in the pics on their site. The best way to find lost Leos is just to look for them at night when they're likely to just be wandering around the room.

Now you have me bitting my nails too. I feel for you, and thinking what I would do. Your right, he could be curled up in a small place that you would never be able to find. But, he HAS to come out for food and water.
Maybe if you had something with an odor to it, like waxies for example, and put them in a bowl, you could find him that way.
I wish I could help you more. You just need to methodicly search every possible nook!!

One other thing, inlist as much help as possible in the search, but make sure they move quietly. He just HAS to be like right there somewhere!

If you have a heating pad place on the floor with some hiding around it. We put our crickets in 28-32 gallon tubs with heating pads under them. We found two escapies "different times" on the heating pad against the back side of the tubs. I don't remember exactly but I think we found one the next day and the other one showed up three days later.

I hope you find him.

I know mine love shadows They think my finger shadows are crickets. maybe the revese is true try using a “beam light” like a “l.e.d.” or a “laser” (dont let it catch the laser if you can help it) and shine it near dark spots you cant see or reach. jusk keep it moving, slowly but not to slowly,
mine always did act like cats.
I hope you find him

did you remove and inspect everything in the cage? I thought my leo escaped once, it turned out he was under the repti-carpet! I secured the carpet and the next day he was missing again. turned out he was hiding in a spot i didn't even think he could fit in and was invisible from every angle.

I have had quite a few 'escapees', and have always found them either right away near where they got out, or weeks later when I wasn't looking for them... like when I turned on the light in a dark room and see movement out of the corner of my eye.
