I've been reading different articles on the best feeders and i want nothing but the absolute BEST for my gecko. Silk worms popped up as being the best feeder but I have heard that many geckos don't like them.

What has been your experience with your geckos eating silk worms? Yay or Nay?

I'm willing to feed anything BUT crickets!!! I saw that Dubias are a big hit so i'm trying those but the silkies are ehhh not to much feed back on them.

Personally I'm going to try them next summer. I know some people have said they have problems with them getting them to breed and mature all the way but I would like to try them for myself.
www.coastalsilkworms.com They sell eggs, worms *only have small atm*, silk worm kits and the food. I actually look forward to raising them, if nothing else it's something fun to do with my daughter :main_yes::main_yes:

EDIT: For me to get 100 small worms and 1/4lb bag of chow it was going to cost about $25 including shipping. Not bad IMO. You can get 25 worms for $7

It's always a risk whether the geckos will like them or not. I get them occasionally and find that they actually smell good, look nice and are fascinating in how fast they grow.

i breed them, Silk worms are not hard to breed..but very easy to kill. i use plastic bins. you need the mulberry food mix. they eat ALOT of it. and as long as you feed them they will keep growing. Clean is the key to keeping them alive. the eggs are the hardest to get going if you don't keep it hot for the eggs. some people say you don't need to but i do. around 80's they hatch pretty fast. and feed them as soon as they hatch. need any photos or help mail me. i will be breeding them in a few weeks again since when i hit 10k worms. i stop and let them all die off lol.

LMAO! ooops.. I was thinking of ordering!!!!

That was to funny!

I'm actually glad you reminded me.
I keep telling myself to order some, so, I just did! :D

I am going to try 100 small (I'm told they grow really fast) and a pound
of pre-mixed chow from Mulberry Farms.

I guess $28.00 aint so bad (w/ FedEx 3 day super saver).

If my leos dont like em (I'm sure Indie will, he will eat anything), heck,
I'll eat em myself! :main_lipsrsealed:

I have used them in the past. They will get kind of big so I would watch the size of the worm for the gecko but I was told that they are one of the best things to feed them it helps with color but that is just what I was told .

Oh no! dont ya hate it when that happens? :main_angry:
I had the very same experience w/ phoenix worms, no one would eat them.

I ended up having to feed them to the wild bird population :main_rolleyes:

One thing to remember though, when you offer them something different and they dont show any interest the first time, keep trying.
That's what happened w/ roaches. Two of my leos would not touch them, I
tried again and again, then, like the third time, they not only ate them, they loved them!! :D

I think leos are just like little kids, picky and contrary :p

PER worm?!?! Holy crap!

Thats what I said!!! I can get like 25 for $9.99!!! Obviously some kid on Craigslist.

I also have silkies for 1 dollar each... These are hard to get and very hard to maintain...I am trying to raise them to see how much better they are than crickets... Right now I have about 60 silkies ranges from their size is xtra small, small and medium... in length they go 1/2 in, 3/4 inch and 1 1/2 inch, respectively...I MIGHT give you a 1/4 spoon full of food which should last you a few days. These guys are immune to any kinda bacteria so I would suggest giving to ur reptile as soon as u get home... O I forgot most of them are zebra silkworms. they are better than the regular silkies and are more expensive whereever u can buy them from...

Oh excuse me they're so expensive because they're Zebra Silk Worms! :main_huh:

Silks are the Best

I feed silks they are the best feeder out there. They are easy to raise but need to be kept clean as someone else stated. I buy my eggs in Bulk and hatch them out as well( much eaiser). I also sell them for a very reasonable price as well (Below the other's out there). E-mail me if you have any questions. I have an add in the feeders section.

BTW All mine love Silks now. It took a few of them a while to switch over but they all Love them now. You can feed Silks that are Giant and have no problem.
