I have a question about how many times and when to breed the female leo. I just had a girl lay a pair of eggs for me after breeding during what I think was her ovulation period...I am not sure they are fertile though.

Should she be bred again now? In a couple days? Does she even need to be bred again or do they retain sperm throughout the laying process? I don't see anthing about this in my books ect ect so could someone please shed some light? :main_huh:

I actually keep my males and femles together during breeding season, so I can't tell you exactly, but I suspect from other experiences and also from reading other posts that the average gecko can lay about 3 clutches before needing to be bred again. That means that some may only retain sperm for 1 clutch and some possibly for the whole season. Hopefully you'll get more answers from people that do the periodic breeding instead of non-stop tail rattling at my house right now.

Hmm, well I guess I will just find out somehow then. I don't really want to keep my male with my female because he tries to breed to her a lot and then ends up getting his little eyelids/or face ripped off when she says 'no'. D:

In my experience female leopard geckos will continue to lay fertile clutches through the breeding season with one successful breeding. I do not normally rebreed my females.
