Well with the current economy and overwhelming amounts of leos being produced there are so many different prices out there that I really dont know whats an appropriate price is anymore.

So what I am wondering is what are the appropriate prices on Morphs?

I mean, I've seen enigmas from as low as $50 to $250 of the same genetics and that goes for many other morphs out there now a days. And I know Lots of breeders are having a and of the season sales so lets exclude that. I know the Enigmas are still not at a stable price, but what about Mack,Trempers,Raptors and that sort of thing?

Thanks

It depends who you are I guess, but I would never sell an Enigma Het Bell lower then $100. But honestly I think Enigmas are making a comeback, and prices will get more stable in the coming months, or one can hope.

Yeah that seems to be one of the big issues...I wanted to leave it out, but I guess its inevitable.
Ok Lets pretend everyone was "equal" and so what would be an Ok pricing. I know reputation will bring in more $$$$, but if normal people sell these geckos at really low prices then it is hurting everyone on the long run( well most). So I guess if there is like a standard people could follow then they wont rip themselves off.....as much I hope.

Enigmas do seem like they will level off a bit, but with all the ones that were bough in '08 there is going to be an overload again( that is what it seems like)

I paid $125 for my SHTCT (Shes really nice, her CT is almost her entire tail) with lines from Craig Stewart a few months ago.. it was about the average price of something her quality at the Ontario Reptile Show. Leopard Geckos up here are seemingly going out though, there weren't many higher end morphs there IMO.

I wish that were true up here in Canada. It's hard finding a leo breeder. D: Or when you do find one, you'd better hope they'll ship it to you.

The Urban Gecko ships internationally and IMO he's one of the very best you can buy from. Down here in Ontario we have the reptile shows 4-5 times a year but the Leo's are disapearing from them faster and faster. Market seems to be Cresties.

I totally agree with you guys its hard to know what prices are reasonable. Especially when you can get the same quality animal from one breeder for say $1000 and the exact quality animal from a lesser known breeder for $100 it really hurts everyone. Cause theres no limits and it all depends on the customers really. It would be nice if there was a leopard gecko Blue book would'nt it.

I must say to prices it´s not that easy on Enigmas. I´ve see ncheap and expensive ones but a tang enigma is not like a tang enigma isn´t it? I think quality is what makes the price! You can sale a tangerine Enigma and you can sale THE tangerine Enigma differences in prices are based on yellowish to deep orange.

Ha yeah I think there should be like a Blue book for leos!!
I totally understand that quality counts, but I am sure you have seen some that are just as nice, but have a Big difference pricing..

Like Thorsten said- prices depend on the quality of the gecko. And also some breeders get irresponsible and produce WAY too many babies for this market. Then when they can't sell them at normal prices, they sell nice animals for dirt cheap... There's nothing that angers small breeders more than other people selling their animals dirt cheap.

I would say normaly cheap ones are not that nice than expensive ones. I see the difference between 50 bucks Tang Enigmas and some for example ppl here are breeding and saling for much more.

THan okay their are ppl out that are expensive taking much $$$ but they are expensive cause of other facts like that you won´t get a gecko unter 30 gramms only nearly ready to breed geckos. So anyway their are good poitns why some are more expensive than others(think of how much it costs to bring a gecko up to 40 gramms and ho long how much time and so on :)

SO I realy would say quality is the key but I know as Matt said(or Malorie?) that their are some breeders breeding geckos on which you can´t realy see differences in quality. For example MSSTA I mean you can only breed on stripe or speckeld all other things won´t vary much but than again their is a difference between a right out the egg gecko or an 50 gramms ready to breed.

I think it basically has do do with the quality of the animal for sale... If someone had an enigma het for whatever for 50 bucks and it was just ok looking and someone had an enigma het whatever for 250 that was smokin, I would go with the 250 dollar one... The same can be said for any morph especially tangerines... There are low quality animals and high quality ones...
