Would Polyurethane Foam be a good idea to use for a substrate/ bottom surface, then use the insulation for background/ rock walls? what are good fire resistant/exstiguishable materials that absorb the heat from the under tank heat pads so the reptiles can feel the warmth?

I'm working on building this tunnel thing but it looks atroshish compared to yours, I wish I had the means to be able to do this, but I am stumped when it comes to planning out things

Wow.

Congratulations on completing it.
I can't even imagine the sense of accomplishment you must be feeling.

It looks fantastic.
I'd kill to be a gecko if I could live in there.

I liked the foam I used because of the smooth texture and firmness, but other foams would be fine I imagine. As for the areas that are heated, they are quite thin in those spots to allow for the transfer of heat. Any more than 1/2" and pretty much no heat gets through. Some foams will naturally allow for more heat to get through...just check out the insulation ratings, or experiment.

As for the caves and tunnels, because everything can be taken out easily, it won't be too hard to catch them even if they try to hide. Even the peek-a-boo cave is completely open at the top and plenty big for my hand. It's just hidden by the waterbowl on top.

What was the brand name of the foam you used? and did u use spray foams? or just insulation board?

i'd be interested in a tutorial, i have a 50gal. that has way too much wasted vertical space and not enough floor space for four rapidly growing little ones, so i'm trying to figure out what to do with that.

I've gotten a few requests, so I'll be sure to take pics when I work on my next one. I plan to start in a few days, so it shouldn't be too long. The overall process isn't hard. It just takes a little creativity and some time.

No idea! I may decide to do set-ups for people in the future, but right now I'm just planning on a tutorial. I've got a baby coming soon, and they can really eat up any free time you have. I don't want to commit myself to anything I don't know I can get done.

Ya, it was a semi joke. But I would buy one if it didn't have to be shipped (would cost thousands :p).
But a tutorial would be AMAZING. Do it for a 20 gallon long. :p

Well, not exactly another one, but I'll be using the same process to add a bit to an existing 10g set-up.

I would love to see this one.. is it a Leo tank because if it is.. you should try to take some pics during the process *wink wink*, Lol.. And maybe I could copy it.. Lol I have ideas for tank but when I try to put it together it just falls a part..
