I've always been a bit different, and for a long time, I didn't get reptiles because I figured that they'd be one too many things for a future bride to have to tolerate. In 2005, I finally reached a point where I saw that I wasn't going to find anyone. If I'm not going to find a wife anyway, I figured that I might as well get the pets that I've always wanted. If I find her now, she's going to have to be able to accept them.

haha I am jealous.
My boyfriend HATES my animals and actually said he would never move in with me because I have too many animals.
He said I could have ONE animal and ONE fishtank and that would be more than plenty
He will hold them and take me to pet stores but thats it.
He isnt supportive and actually tells me to not buy them..but its my money so it doesn't work out so well for him.
Then he complains about it, esp when i buy food. He tells me how much more money I would have even though he is flat as broke he couldn't buy me a bday present but I am still able to pay for his gas.
And he says spending 60 dollars on a animal (which we all would spend gratefully) is the biggest waste of money he has ever seen.
Its one of our biggest problems and why both of us are leaning towards becoming just friends.
I told him they aren't going..and in fact I plan to get more.

Its hard but I kinda have gotten used to it.

My boyfriend adores them. Particularly my bearded dragon. Some day I bet he'll be working side-by-side with me. :) He always asks if I need any food for them on his way home from work. Takes me to reptile shows, too!

I'm very lucky. :D

Julie is still going strong with the hobby. She recently picked up a super snow het tremper pair at Daytona. It's just hot when she does that.

I chose, works by my side, however....we have different keeping styles and tend to bump heads when it comes to the boas.

The leo's are all mine and I keep them as I see fit.

The other possible "issue" with spouse's that love these animals is the fact that "more" is not always better! I understand out breeding but sometimes I just want to say "we have enough darling" (as I cruise the leo classifieds)

Keep in mind that we have 60 snakes and 35 leos!

On the positive side, we share the same friends, and love to go herping together!

I find it amusing that there are so many more women then men. Anyways, I talked my bf into getting our first snake then we ended up with two more and a crestie within two months. He really loves our first snake and he considers all of them our children so he helps feed and clean and take care of them in general. However, I think he does all of this to keep me happy because he's just one of those nice guys that would do anything to see me smile.

My wife helps me take care of them but most of the time she would rather hold her favorites than help feed or clean them. At least she enjoys them, before I got married I hoped to meet someone who tolerated them then she came along. I guess I lucked out. :main_yes:

My husband loves our reptiles as much or more than I do. We just wish we had more time/money to spend on them...

My wife bought my first gecko for me back in 03 so its kinda her fault i have a gecko addiction. She never really handled them until i was deployed to Iraq. While i was gone she took care of my geckos. She even bred the geckos, incubated the eggs, and raised the hatchlings. When it came time to sell the hatchlings she even shipped them off for me. Now she understands why its hard for me to sell a gecko after ive raised it from a hatchling. Since ive been home she has helped me with the geckos almost every night.

I'm a spolied wife, hubby doesnt mind my pets and helps me set them up and takes me shopping to get the stuff I need for them, so I'm very lucky. My animals and my crafts are pretty much the only places I spend extra money, and for him its his water dragons and computers so its about even.

Well i will Say it on here since i know My Gf will never Be on here to see it:main_thumbsup: But My GF and soon to Be Fiance:main_yes: Does not Mind my Lil Addiction/Obession (Thats what she calls it) to Geckos/ Reptiles. She has gotten very used to them, Helps feed, handle and does a very Excellent Job at falling "In love" with the Babies and Not letting me sell them. She also has started to show some interest in the Geckos and has even Schooled a handful of People while i was selling geckos or just showing them off at the Local Reptile Store. She has come along way from "Babe why do you like Reptiles??" I am Very Proud of her and very happy that she can except My Love for reptiles...... Now lets just Hope that she will still be ok with everything when i put the ring on the Finger:D

I am a single female. My ex wasn't crazy about my gecko....he had mixed feelings on her.

Well. I can handle not being crazy about them...but I'd prefer to have a Gecko and just plain Animal savvy spouse in the future.

My ex went back and forth between liking critters and not. She basically likes them but just doesn't want to take care of them. She did raise a bearded dragon up from a baby into an adult once though and actually did a good job so she must not hate them. She likes geckos but isn't really a fan of the more "creepy" critters i like to keep. She doesn't get why i'm so addicted to this stuff & i don't have the energy to explain it to her anymore.
