I need some help. My gecko has some shed adhered to its eye. I cannot get it off with a warm bath and tweezers. Please help me out and let me know what i can do to get this off. She has been having shedding issues since we got her, but never with her eyes.

well how bad is it? is it a packed on shed over or on top of the eye, If you seem to cant get it off with Long warm soaks, tweezers, try even using a Q-tip. Mist down her cage. just keep repeating, if you have a photo that would be much more helpful

I've had a few stuck sheds on the eye, and I gently mist it down, let it soak, and GENTLY remove it with my finger tips.

I'd hold her snuggly, get some warm water on your finger and massage the area gently. You can also do this after the warm bath. This happens to my babies all the time and that's what I do. Good luck.

Also are you using a humid hide in the enclosure? Just checking, sometimes they having shedding problems even with one.

Thanks for the help.... Its just a cap on shed stuck on the eye. It looks painful. I will try to get a picture, but my good camera has been acting up.

I had something similar last week. I sprayed her with some shed-aid, waited, misted the tank, waited. Used a warm, wet q-tip to massage... waited.... and then put her in a warm bath of shed solution diluted, and used a wet q tip back ad forth in the water to rub the stubborn skin until it was loose, and then VERY VERY VERY carefully used tweezers to gently remove. Slipped right off.

Idk much about Gecko, but for my BP's we soak them in a tub with water that comes up half their body for 100% humidity for about 20 min. Then u can use a warm q tip and it should slip right off. Now snakes don't blind so it might be harder with a Leo. Hope it comes off.

I wish I could help :( I have a gecko that sheds poorly, and I'm so worried about this happening. Have you tried using a Q tip?

I bought some "Shed ease" to help remove it. Right now she is in a warm bath with the shed ease sprayed on the eye. I'm going to let her soak for about 30 minutes and then try to rub it off with a Q-tip. I'll keep doing this until it's off, or if it doesn't come off I'm going to bring her into a vet who feels more comfortable with peeling it off her eye. How long should I wait before bringing her to the vet... a day or two?

Um....

I wouldn't put the shed ease directly in the eye. The ingredients specificaly are:Aloe Vera, Salt, Glycerol, Potassium Sorbate, and Sodium Benzoate. You really don't want to put any of these things directly in the eye. I hope damage hasn't been caused already. The instructions tell you to use a warm bath, not to put it in the eye. Follow the instructions.

Like I was saying before, you can get regular eye lubricant over the counter. I would use that instead, since it's meant for the eye.

When you go to the vet...take the container of "shed-ease" with you. Make sure you tell them that you specifically used it directly in the eye... the cloudyness of the eye is a little worrysome. And I certainly hope he or she isn't permanently incapacatated because of this.

I don't mean to come down on you, but you should follow directions specifically. In this case, you were to dilute this solution with the proper amount of water and give her a bath. NOT spray it directly in her eye.

I read the directions on the bottle and it said it was safe to spray it right in the eye. It wasn't shed ease that I got, but Repti Shedding Aid. Sorry for the mix up. I put some eye drops in the eye and am calling to vet tomorrow.

Honestly it lies then. Unless it is just about pure water don't put it on any animals eyes. Look at the ingredients and anything like salt or any abrasive could make the leo go blind. And I am sorry to say but milky eyes is not a good sign. Im glad your going to a vet, I'd bring the bottle with you as previously said. Just keep everything moist.

Here are the ingredients:
Water, solubilizing hydrotrope, glycerin, jojoba oil, and vitamin E acetate in an oil base.

I really wish the vet would open before 8:30... the wait is killing me.

I know this is an old post but just to clarify, you are incorrect. Many shedding aids and eye drops are more than acceptable to be applied directly to the eye. In most cases they will help moisturize the eye and lid in the process. but if you are ever worried about it dilute the solution with distilled water and it will be more gentle. I just want to let you know that so if you ever need to do it or so you will not give false information.

Thanks!
