I've been bitten by the super giant bug. I visited a fellow Gecko Forum member a few days ago and saw her male ("Jamba"-- there's a thread with pictures of him in this subforum). I always thought I'd be interested in a Giant or Super Giant, but once I saw him I knew I had to go looking for a big male of my own. I searched with several reputable vendors and ending up buying one from Ron Tremper that was on his site. Lo and behold, I was emailed the next day saying that male had been sold, but that his brother (and a grandson of Moose) was available. She sent a picture and I was sold.

Hatchdate was 6/28/10. The weight in the picture she sent me was 106g, but honestly I think he's a lot bigger right now. I need to buy a digital scale to be sure, but he is freaking humongous, and oh so handsome. I was looking for a guy with some color, too, and his color is stunning.
I couldn't be happier with him.

HERE HE IS!!

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I just got home from work and my guy is doing great. He's chilling out on the cooler end of the tank and has a big fat belly from eating all the mealworms I put out for him. :main_thumbsup: I am so happy.

Hey Natalie Congrats! Wow you weren't kidding when you said you were gonna find one :) He is gorgeous I luv him!

HEY!!! Yes, it's all because of your Jamba that I now have an empty wallet. ;) Seriously, he made me realize that I definitely wanted a Super Giant male, and I lucked out getting one from Tremper especially since this one wasn't officially for sale on his site.

More pictures. :)

I don't want to stress him out by handling him, but I was still able to get a shot that shows his size. I hope to weigh him soon.

I bought him a large Exo-terra snake den as a moist hide and he loves it. How cute is this:

And this one was taken yesterday. He'd had quite a long day, and looked too hilarious lying in the snake den with his legs every which way.

Lastly, I got this video last night. It shows what a freakin' huge guy he is. I love his big broad head and massive tail.

Thanks everybody. I'm totally in love. :)

Wow Natalie! Looks like a Hot Moose. Congrats!!

That'd be cool if he is. He definitely has more color than I was expecting, and he's just what I wanted.

I was mistaken thinking he had eaten. The mealworms in his bowl actually escaped and went behind the 3D background. So.. he hasn't eaten since he arrived, but I'm not too worried yet. I'll keep a close eye on him and try to weigh him this weekend.

This guy is still pretty shy. He spends all day in a large Exo-Terra snake den, and doesn't really come out at night until I've gone to bed. I'm fine to be as patient with him as he needs, because he's worth it. I weighed him in the snake den this morning, and I'll try to get a weight of the empty den so I can figure out his weight. I also put up black cardboard on the sides of the tank to make him feel a little more secure.

He hasn't eaten so I bought some small crickets to offer. Last night I decided to drop one straight in his snake den. I don't see the cricket this morning, and one of the giant mealworms in the food bowl is also gone. Hopefully his appetite is creeping back.

It's taken 9 days, but I just got the guy to eat. :) He never ate the mealworm or cricket before, they just hid. But I've been giving him water either from my fingers, which he takes right away, or by dropping it from a syringe at the entrance to his hide, where he licks it up. Tonight he seemed a little more interested in what I was doing, so I put a giant mealworm on tongs and he got it!! He also ate a regular mealworm, and I went ahead and filled his dish with them so hopefully he's finally got his appetite back for good. I'm really happy about that. :)
