good and bad

well they hatched. first off let me say that there is a disturbing photo.

one hatched out fine but has a small yolk sack attached. the other died trying to come out of the egg. however it has a HUGE yolk sack. i am wondering if it could not get through the slit it made because of the size of it's yolk sack or if it got some of the super hatch got in its mouth and lungs. i will get russ to look later.

here are photo of the two

first the so far healthy looking baby. she is small and has a small yolk sack left

here is the one that died HUGE yolk sack

i have two more eggs in there. i am going to add some more watcher (hopefully that will address the yolk sack problem)
so far, if these end up being the kind of results i get with super hatch i will throw it out and continue with my old vermiculite

I'm sorry Robin.

I've been using Superhatch for 2 1/2 seasons now with great results. I'm even using it in my SIM container.:)

I have used super hatch with great success, i hydrated the super hatch at the beginning of the season put it in the bator and put the first eggs in December. I had eggs in there up to about April. All babies hatched out great. I was incubating fat tail eggs in a shoebox container w/ super hatch.

Im sure the other eggs will do just fine!

God Luck!

I put the super hatch in a pillowcase, ran water through it for 5-10 mintues, then let it hanging to let the water drip out for 1 hour.

Doesnt get any easier than that :main_thumbsup: .....actually...there's Hatchrite, but i dont like that stuff lol

I'm so sorry about your baby. :( I was really excited to read your thread and then that post about your baby dying was such a heart breaker! Glad the other survived.
