Isnt it time to let everyones opinions be? And to end this thread? Everyones had there say in this and now people are still talking about (the word is driving me crazy :p) cull or was it kill? And if the homemade enceclopedia wikipedia is a good source, sure it was homemade but people work hard on it to be helpfull to other people, it all comes down to having your own viewpoints and opinions on certain subjects and people may like it or not

And believe me i think it is important to have discussions on certain viewpoints and practesses, but imo this isnt the right thread.

Goodmorning from a drowly, gray and wet Holland |-)

I'm definitely not going to argue with anyone on definitions. I will say that other breeders (one I think of is Jon of SF) use the word cull as to take out of breeding stock, not kill. I do believe that it's mostly used on here as kill, but not always. Everyone interprets it differently and that's okay. Just ask nicely what they meant and most breeders will tell you.

Also, not all breeders know their hets. I bought from a big breeder and the gecko has unknown hets. I'm guessing it happens with people who breed on a large scale. I bought her for a dark project, but I never found a male. I'm selling her for someone else to use for a dark project or test breed. She could also end up as a pet and not breeder.

I hate culling geckos. It's horrible, but part of breeding. Sometimes you have to test breed. In this situation, I would have culled the two animals so no one gets double hets and then I would have frozen and tossed the rest of the eggs. It sucks, but it's safer than putting those geckos out in the market. JMO though.

I agree with you Kristi. Its a dirty job-it can be the ugly side of a beautiful hobby. Tell us more about your dark with unknown hets?! I had a dark project once, forever ago.. I love Hyper Mels!

I sold her, but she was a nice dark spotty gecko. Her tail had black/gray instead or orange/yellow. I really liked her, but I just couldn't find a male to breed to her.
