She's a cutie!
You'll definitely want to get her on some paper towels or repti-carpet.
She does seem to be a high yellow, but i'd rather have someone who knows more chime in:)

the geckos can accidently get some of the soil in their mouths and swallow it which can cause impaction. Shes a handsome gecko by the way

I wouldn't use the soil as a substrate in the cage I use paper towels but I use the soil in my geckos moist boxes they seem to love it and never had a problem with impactation

The general rule is solid substrate until they're full grown, then if you really want particulate substrate, you can go ahead and switch it. You HAVE to make sure they have plenty of water, though, and if you're feeding loose insects (not in a bowl) you should feed in a different cage. That lessens the risk of impaction.

Nice looking guy you got there. He's young so his color will show in time. Make sure you give him a moist hide so he can shed correctly. Especially in a screen top terrarium they need some extra humidity. I didn't see one from your pics so thought I'd mention it before something happened. Have fun!

Ok so i stumbled upon your post.... Double check the Temps... make sure its warm enough for him.

I think his temps are fine...? 90 on the warm side and 79 (room temp) on the cool side..... :main_huh: He ate 5 crickets 2 nights ago and hasn't even come out of his cave (to my knowledge) since. I'm usually up at night because I have a 3 month old daughter but I never turn the dining room light on (where Taco is). If it isn't his temps, is it possible that its impaction? He was in the soil when he ate because I only learned about impaction the day after I got him.....

There's always the possibility of impaction but I wouldn't worry too much. Can you give us some pictures of his full cage? and possibly a close up? It could just be that he's still settling in, getting used to his new home and everything.

Everything sounds about right to me.
He still hasn't eaten yet?
I guess I'll have to wait for someone a bit more experienced that me to chime in, since I have no clue on why he wouldn't be eating.
