Lol sorry Rick...I don't mean to torture you! You're only in CA, and welcome to visit any day :)!! And you're right, it really doesn't get much cuter than Rotty pups, and I don't say that only because I'm biased :)!!!

Rotts don't have tails they're born with coffee table clearing, leg bruising, beat up the kids and make them cry, baseball bats attached to there butts.:main_laugh:

:main_laugh: Which is why they're usually a docked breed. I was just wondering since I have a friend in the state who does some awesome show-dog quality breeding and I know she has her litters docked.

Heather, I just caught this thread and omg those puppies are so cute. I miss having a bunch of puppies around. My family when I was growing up bred Samoyeds and its so much fun having a ton of balls of fur running around the place.
I am betting those 4 are going to be a handful for a little while. LOL so cute

You guys don't know what a baseball bat tail is until you've had an English Mastiff...

He broke his tail against a corner of a wall once - He wags it THAT hard! It's like getting kicked by a small horse..

Heather how are the puppies? Did they move out or are some still at home..

I really want to thank you for letting us watch your little babies grow. I've shared this thread with my all my family and friends. They all give the same response "Awww" then it turns into screaming "Oh my God. Oh my God," lol

I hope you can keep in touch with their new owners and hopefully they can send you some pictures of them once they become big boys/girls and maybe you can share them with us?

Oh wow...lotsa replies that I missed!

Jennifer - The breed standard here in the US still states a docked tail, yes, but it has changed a lot overseas. In 1999 Germany passed a law making it illegal to dock or crop ANYTHING on a dog. The ADRK (like our AKC) then revised the breed standard, calling for a natural tail. The FCI (World Canine Organization) then gave its members several years to comply with the new breed standard. A docked Rottweiler does NOT conform with the current FCI standard. Here is the problem...the AKC (American Kennel Club) is not a member of the FCI. The AKC breed standard for the Rottweiler has ALWAYS varied from that of the FCI, and they are currently struggling to deal with the HUGE difference in standard regarding the presence (or lack) of the natural tail.

These dogs are Yugoslavian, and Serbian lines, and come from 2 of the most respected dogs in the world...it would be a disservice to alter them in any way :) We've competed in Seiger shows (the German version of showing) and you'd be hard pressed to find a docked dog at those shows. The reason being...you can have a TOP dog here in the states, titled to the max, but if his tail is docked you have no hopes of showing him on a national level...let alone breeding him!

The GREAT thing about Rottweiler tails is that they curve up and over their back, Husky style...so most of the time it's out of the way. I know breeds with MUCH more lethal tails ;)

- What makes it even MORE inhumane is the fact that people will do it to a dog that is even 1 year old. That would be the equivalence of me getting my arm cut off, then stitched back up because "it's not breed standard here".

Liz
- We have 2 puppies left right now. We set it up so there was a steady "disappearance" of one at a time, not all at once, in order to keep Dezi as little nervous as possible. Big girl (her new name is Ziva) heads home tomorrow, so that leaves one. We originally had them all sold, but since then I had learned some things about the would-be owner of baby boy. I returned their deposit, and have since been trying to place him. These puppies mean too much to me for me to ignore my gut instinct and place them in a home and am not completely sure of. The great thing about the 3 that have been placed is that they all went to close friends of ours, so we'll be seeing them on a regular basis :)

Wow, thanks so much for the concise reply! They are definitely high quality Rotts which is why I was asking about the tails. If you intend to show them in the international rings, you of course wouldn't dock their tails! I love learning new things about any breed of dog so thanks for the educational trivia. :)

How did you pick the puppies' names? Are they from their parents' native lands or German or just plain nifty?

Oh we didn't name any of the pups. They are literally "Green Boy, Big Girl, Blue Boy, and Baby Boy"...naming goes along with getting attached. We left that to the new owners. So far there is Jake, Ziva, and Maximus. Baby boy should have a home soon :)

It's more than just hoping they can show overseas. It really comes down to the breed standard WHERE THE BREED ORIGINATED. Germany, because the Rottweiler originated there, can change the breed standard. They basically own the rights to the breed. I think it is silly not to follow the breed standard where the breed originated from!

So....the puppies as of today are all in their new homes. I'm very sad, and somewhat depressed, the house is VERY quiet...just not the same without the little whimpers, growls, and click clack of puppy nails. Not to mention the baby kisses when they get SO excited and can't contain themselves. The only good part is that they went to some amazing people. *Sigh*

Sorry to hear, they were beyond adorable. I'm really glad you found good homes for them. I guess mom can get some rest now. Maybe I'll be in a place that allows dogs by the next litter.:main_thumbsup:

Lol oh man Rick...there will be no more litters! Danny and I NEED to focus on the business, and this litter hit Dezi really hard. She's lost a good 20 lbs almost, and is skin and bones, poor thing. Here are some last photos of them while they were here...we know all of the new owners well, so I'll have pictures up every few months of the little monsters growing like weeds :)

And Mommy was depressed -

We steam cleaned the carpets in our bedroom, and the marble in the kitchen to get out any smells left of them. Dezi is coping very well. A little depressed, but she's not whining and pacing like last night. It's sad it's over...just like that, but they did go to some super amazing people. Here is a picture of one of the new owners, a couple days ago. She brought her boy, Jake, back over to say hi to us. He worships the ground she walks on, it's a match made in heaven :)
