Look here, i have been taking care of reptiles while you were a piece of dna. I'm not sure who you think you are, delusions of grandeur, but you are a child. No, you're an infant and most likely will always be that way! Take care.

Update to those that have a mind higher than an imbecile such as sure an anus...:)

I still have not found my beloved Tico. I have not found any droppings or seen any tracks from the flour i have left on my uncarpeted floors. It's almost like he just disappeared. It's been a bit over two months now. Do ya'll think he's still alive?

I could swear it was spelt M_surinamensis. They asked a question, they didnt deserve an answer like that. My sympathy for you is decreasing ever so slightly. Good luck finding tico, i hope he comes home safley.

I have seen some stories on here of people who's gecko got loose and showed up many months later, so hopefully you will get lucky and he'll show up alive at some point!

None of which directly addresses the question. Still, I can make some inferences with what's there and what isn't.

Dead prior to reaching adulthood or abandoned as they got too large. Possibly the same with the boids; you were nonspecific about species, size/age and number.

You can refute that of course but then you're left having to explain the defensiveness. My sense of grandeur isn't a delusion though. I'm just that damn majestic.

I have had all sorts of loose critters my list of places to look
#1 dissect the couch pull off all the cushions see if there is any place to get inside the frame usually underneath there is access to the guts check all the way up the back and into the arms
#2 the fridge all up in the compressor
#3 Behind books on bookshelves
#4 under or in hot water heater
#5 Washers and dryer have full access from the bottom; they can crawl under and up.
#6 check your dressers to see if there is access from the floor, if so they can get to any of the drawers and hide in the cloths.
#7 if the fabric on the bottom of your box spring is ripped they can get in there.
Any time I went crazy tearing the house, or classroom apart the creatures were found in one of these places. Now I find most escapees in my classroom within 10 min. usually kids trying to be funny taking the locks off the BP cages. Most of my escapees are from my early teens, over extending myself with too many animals and makeshift cages.

If I were going to do some kind of trap it would be a clear tub with crickets in it maybe 6-7 in high with a ramp for the gecko too get in with 1/2 an egg carton in there, hopefully he would go in and stay to hang out or not be able to get out.

OH, if you look in dressers or anything with pull out doors be very careful! My sister and some other young kids (they were all young) killed her hamster, who had ran from them and into a old desk. They pulled out a drawer right when it was crawling through and cracked it's neck.

I have a friend in Minnesota where their leo got out for 8 months, I believe. It was in the winter months, too. She found him 8 months laters and he lost no weight and was perfectly healthy! There's hope, my friend!

Spit fire was lost 12 months not 8:3. He went missing in July 2 months after i got him. I was sad as heck. Looked everywhere. Tried the floor on the side of the walls trick and Who knows how many others. He didnt show up and i just assumed he passed as the winter months came about. As PhatSprinter said i Live in NORTHERN minnesota. We use a fire to heat the house during the day and keep the furnace at 68 during the night. Although the jokes of the "gecko the size of a croc" were spotted in hopes wed find him but alas. Spit fire was hidden well. I gave up hope none the less:/ 12 months and some odd days!(i believe 5) While checking the crawl space for leaks and such with the pipe work there he was. At the door laying motionless... We thought he was dead... The bastard lived up to his name and BITE me!XD Clearly alive and pissed as always. Put him in a tank, heated, dusted his food as he was having some wobbly walking, and sure enough the 37 gram gecko who went missing a year ago had gained 6 grams in that span. Now at a nice 69 grams hes still gaining weight and eating WELL. I cant hold him, i cant breed him as he attacks anything that moves... BUT hes back. DONT GIVE UP HOPE! I had Spit 2 months. He was bought from a pet store. Wasnt in great shape but he survived. They are hardwired for survival.

Side note: Some may laugh at this but ive caught a few of my other geckos-namely the frog eyes- with a method like they do for crocs. I tie a roach to a string and tie the string so it cant get away. Leave it over night and check all the traps. Ive caught all my frog eyes who got out minus one-so thats 5- that way. Dont ask how but i have. I use sewing thread which they pass fine that i can tell. Its worth a shot.. GOOD LUCK dont give up!

I had a mouse that got out and I chased it into my dresser, I opened the drawer quickly and somehow it got wedged in between the groove in the drawer and the wood piece it slides on. Poor thing looked like a furry tootsie roll, but the mouse was on the run, so you should be ok, I see a gecko more hiding in the clothes or under a drawer.

Yea, it would be a pretty unlucky type of accident, not one that is common I am sure. But, I thought of it when (maybe you) another poster mentioned looking in drawers. Little kids (all under 10) and hamsters without adult supervision do not mix!

Any update on the search? Hope you find it soon D:

I thought mine escaped the other day because I couldn't find it, but I was confused cause the lid was on and there's about a 10" gap between the highest the leo can climb to the top of the tank. After about 30 seconds of searching, it was huddled way in the corner (where I've never seen it explore) stuck between a hide and some plants >_>

I was in the same situation with my first leo jesse, she was gone over 2 months, fed her big grasshoppers when I got her, she lived many years later.

Hope you find him.

Believe it! I know we couldnt either._. I pass his survival on proper care and well feeding before he went missing that allowed him some time to find some bugs. We still to this day dont know how he managed to get under the house. He was far to big to fit threw the vents. But It's his secret story that he may share one day^_^ For now he's more then content to lounge on his hammack and wait for his next feeding.

As if jinxing myself. One of my orignal geckos keep getting out! But he comes out from hiding whenever the lights turn on so he's found each time-3 days in a row now. I Wish the OP much luck! Ive been reminded how devastating it can be

That was uncalled for.
\

I agree.

It was very uncalled for. I'm embarrassed by doing this but I feel that it is the right thing to do. I sincerly apolgise to those I offended. I wasn't of my right mind. I just panicked...and in doing so, my reward was getting an infraction, hateful thoughts of fellow reptile enthusiasts, as well as making a fool of myself.

I again share the hate towards me. Dang, I'm in the wrong thread but thought that I was. I can't do anything right.

M_surinamensis, sorry for disrespecting you.

Don't be so hard on your self. I kept a juvenile Caiman for some time when I was 12. Long story short, the pest man came while I was at school and it was belly up when I got home. Things happen and its not really other peoples business. I think he stepped over a line and you had every reason to be defensive. Those of us that care about our animals are right to be upset and he (practically trolling) felt like he should add to your misery? It was off topic and plain rude. I think you are the bigger person apologizing and hope you find your gecko. I also lost a snake when I was young. Not sure of the actual time frame, but I'd say he popped up about a month later wrapped around an old T-ball trophy. He was perfectly fine. I wish you the best of luck.
