As for "animal abuse"
If someone can harm an animal -they can harm a person and often graduate to inflicting harm or even death on humans-so there is a very great and urgent need to upgrade and enforce animal cruelty penalties

I agree with you totally Sandy. It is a documented fact that "most" of the really horrible serial killers started out inflicting pain on animals first. If our laws were tough on these people to begin with MAYBE some it could prevent more deaths from happening ( both human and animal). I mean if you knew that you would get your hand chopped off for stealing would yu do it? Maybe if the next guy knew that this idiot got his ear removed.....ok too extreme I am sure some will say....spent a few YEARS in a real prison for what he did maybe they would think a little more before doing the same thing. It just makes me sick that people can take life and death so casually becasue they feel it is "only" an animal. Guess they should thank the heavens that we haven't run across another race that views us as "only" a human!!!!!!

Just an afterthought...can homeowners really drop you if you get a specific breed of dog? Is that legal? Just wondering......

Are you talking about insurance? If so, yes, most Insurance companies will not insure homes if you have certain breed dogs, like Pit Bull

insurance companies that will drop you just because you have a dog like that is total BS. The one we have our car insurance through is like that, so I'm calling our new homeowners tomorrow and seeing about switching our auto to them as well. You don't like my dog, you don't need my business
