Kelli, Tarheel geckos is Tarik who is leatherneck reptiles now due to his site's name being lost while in Iraq.

Awesome find and that shows the popularity of the morph now. I remember back in my snake breeding days when leopard geckos were extremely rare and now everywhere you look you can find them.

WOW... the 'way-back machine"! I don't think I posted classifieds back in '01. It would be interesting to list ALL the breeders that were active back then and see how many are still in business. I'll bet the numbers would be a wake-up call for many of us.

I guess I should have been more specific: I did not count the big wholesale/pet shop places (Prehistoric Pets etc.). Kevin Dunne has not worked with leos for several years, at least he had not the last time we spoke. It was cool to see that there are a few still going strong with leos. :)

LOL Back in those days I was a avid gecko purchaser! I remeber getting a few hot high yellows, and albinos from K&N back then. I also bought my first 3 bold stripes from them at a show in raligh NC back in 02 or so lol! I should have begain breeding back then...My room was FULLLLLLL of 20 longs with a gecko in each lol! My parents said I had the safari room and made the AC turn on more than it should lol!

In 2001 I had my second season with leopards (wild-types), and I had never heared or thought about colour morphs in this species :) . It is strange how quick time can pass sometimes..

That's a great list! A couple of breeders on that page (Bill DiFabio and Kevin Hanley) were responsible for producing the first two males I purchased as breeders when I first started breeding in 2003. It is crazy how far the Leopard Gecko has come since then not to mention the number of people working with them. It certainly makes you wonder who will still be around in 7 years, as all of the people who produced the breeders I used that year no longer work with Leos (and haven't for a few years now from what I understand). Although I find myself appreciating my Crested Gecko collection more and more, I don't know if I could give up on Leos unless I totally stopped breeding altogether. And even then, I would probably have a lot of Leos as pets :)

Here is a link to the kingsnake.com Gecko Classifieds from April of 2001. It's interesting to see the leopard geckos, or lack thereof, being advertised. This was the beginning of the leopard gecko craze. The only names I see there that are still breeding leos now are:

K & N
Lizards of Oz
Garrick
VMS
HISS

Wow Kelli, talk about a blast from the past. I am surprised I didn’t have any ads running that month. Here is another blast from the past my original sign in screen from Kingsnake. It says I joined 11/18/99 but I believe it was actually some time late 98. Of course around that time I was killing brain cells at an alarming rate so who knows when it was.
