As some of you know I bit the bullet and got the Bold Stripe I wanted from Hiss. She was 2 months old when she arrived and I waited a full 30 day quarantine in her new tank and did not even attempt to handle her.

Since then I have handled her inside her tank with no problems where she walks on my hands and I pick her up and then let her down. She seems to not be freaked out on my hand or in her tank.

She just had another shed and her colors are just awesome. Her tail is Fat and seems to have that R2 bloodline "look" that everyone likes:main_yes:

What I like the most is she has some orange at the base of her tail. This adds some "extra" color and to me makes her a "looker". Also the pattern on her head is cool! I could not be happier!

This is an old pic...... but when I get her out of her tank I plan on taking some good pics. It's hard taking pics in a 15 gal tank...lol.

PLus....... I started her off using the ICB on her crickets ( 5 or 6 a day) and seems to be having the results many have attested to.

I guess it's obvious........ but the Bold Stripes are my fav.........

....... so post some of yours from this year!

She looks beautiful.

Thanks!

I think I did what was suggested to insure a patient ( on my part ) transition to her new home. One of the suggestions was to wait till the Leo was 3 months old before going through the taming process. It was HARD to wait! but I see a big difference in that time not only in size and length but I assume some type of maturity.... ie out of the baby stage for sure! I even covered 3 sides of her tank and took off one at a time.

Everyone has a method they use and what I did was take the "safest" and more patient route. Yes..... I am very impatient and it caused me a LOT of frustration in the beginning. A Leo is a long term responsibility...... so considering she will live upwards of 15 to 20 years..... it was easier to wait and be more patient and not rush anything.

The only piece of gear I have not yet purchased is a scale. She was 25 grams when I got her and I can only assume she is maybe 35 range now? I am not a breeder but I think a scale is something good to have.

Any suggestions on one that will work good and not the most expensive?

She looks pretty.

Congrats on the conure..they're loud but fun as anything. *lol*

Actually.......... I did my homework before we bought the Parrot. It was really the deciding factor. The Green Cheeked Conure is considered the "quietest" of the parrot family.

The other factor was it immediately took to my granddaughter in the Pet store. I mean, she spent 30 min just playing and petting it. I heard somewhere that the parrot picks the owner....... and if that is true...... this one picked her. We have had her here for just 3 days and even though everyone can pet her..... it's obvious that she prefers Britt.

But....... here I go into another learning curve....lol.

Yes....... they are a HOOT to watch! They say the GC Conure is a big bird in a small package. I will agree:main_thumbsup:

FYI..... having a Rabbit, Hamster, Gerbil, 2 Leos and a Parrot........ everyone! washes their hands after handling or touching one of them. It's the Rule! and we are aware of the dangers many people make. We even do it with both Leos. Like the saying goes....... better safe than sorry.

But for those who have a small ZOO at home too...lol..... any advise is wanted! We want happy and healthy pets.
