Too attached?

What do you do when you get too attached to one of your breeders? Do you set up a pet enclosure or close your eyes and sell anyway?

I try to spend the same time with all breeders so that I don't get attached, but some of them I've noticed I'm a bit more attached to... I don't like it. :-/ Ha... Just trying to get an idea what to do.

It depends on what you can afford. There are a great many I'd like to keep forever, but I quickly learned to minimize my groups for practical reasons. I really like my male Giant RAPTOR, but if one of the upcoming hatchlings hits its morph mark, then I will pass the opportunity of owning him on to a new individual. On the other hand, even if I could never make breeding use of them at this point, my originally troublesome female Enigma het RAPTOR and my male Super Giant (hets unknown) "rescue" will always have a home with me, as I saw them through so much trouble and would not want someone else to carelessly undo all of my work.

This changes throughout the year. I would have not felt like I could give up my Giant (extreme) Carrot Head Tremper het DB baby my beasts produced this year, but taking on the responsibility of the "rescue" SG makes me feel more and more like it's a viable option. Additionally, I don't feel that I should part with my keystone RAPTOR het Blizzard. I have history with him, he's one of the best RAPTORs I have ever seen, and he has breeding utility. However, I realize that, if I ever produce a male Diable Blanco that is just ridiculously beautiful, I may end up using him to replace his father in the breeding group. So, really, it's a mix of feelings, with a couple mandatory keepers and a handful of those I'd just like to for arbitrary reasons.

We have about 60 breeders right now, this year we produced from 8 of them. LMAO There are quite a few that we don't need for any of our projects but I just can't let them go!

I'm having this same issue. I have some that I know I won't ever breed, but I can't see to sell them. I know at some point I will have to since we are very limited on space, but I'm hoping to find some way to keep them anyways.

I try not to get attached, but sometimes I do. Beast is a good example of what happens when I get attached. As far as I have found from him, he is het for nothing, but I let him have a female or two every year who I am not using for anything. Plus first fed, and any bugs he wants ;). He has been with me for 10 years and he will be with me till one of us doesn't wake up. I personally hope it's me who goes first, it's not good to see a 280 lb bald, bearded man cry. lol

Well, it's kind of a problem if you fall in love with 30 or 40 geckos, but if it's just a few, then why not keep them?
