Do you guys just sit and watch your torts in their enclosure? Eating, sleeping, exploring?

I think I'm crazy, but I like to just sit and watch them even if they're not doing anything. Relaxing...

I love watching them. I have 3 female and 1 male russian, 1 golden greek and 1 hermanns ( I like the small tortoises). My russians have a pen right off the front porch so I can watch from there. :D

jumper. love your Russians! I have a male/female pair, but would love another female when I have more room. Also love the pen, again something I can't wait to build when I move out. I've got a pretty nice pen for my Russians, but it got too cold before I could finish filling in the gaps and letting them find the kinks so I can fix. Can't wait for spring to complete it. I still need a lid. My redfoots are too small for outside right now.

Mel, I agree there's somethign about them... Definitely hypnotic.

Redfoots are great. I like the color. My Hermanns is inside too, because he is small. About 3 inches now. He was hatched from captive bred parents.

I adore watching my baby redfoot. She is always the first critter I see in the morning because her enclosure is right near my bed. It's like clockwork. I turn over, there she is staring at me with her little feet in her empty food bowl.

I also have a russian that likes to trundle around the kitchen floor while I'm cooking and I'll be rescuing another one in the next week or so. I'm so excited.

Hermanns are pretty cute. I've considered them, but I jsut don't have room for any more. The 4 that I have take up enough space as it is, and I still wish I had more space... One day...

I'd actually love a Sulcata. My boyfriend was going to get me one for Christmas, but know my parents would have a cow. He's been asking if I thought I could get away with it for a few months, and finally decided not to. Guarantee that's one of the first things I'm getting when I move out- well a Sulcata or a Leopard tortoise. Ha. Of course after I set up outdoor enclosures for everyone and get everything financially situated.

All this tortoise chat sure is making me miss interracting with my little guys. I am not bringing them out of hibernation till end of feb. though.:(
I have had my Greek for about 3 years now, but she is alone in her pen (I don't keep her with the russians). From what I can gather she is about 11 years old. I am looking for a captive bred adult male but they are hard to find.

jumper, it's always good to keep different species separated. love the pictures by the way. oh and blubeast has a wide assortment, but I've found them quite expensive compared to others. I don't think you'll find a CB adult Greek though. *shrugs* maybe
