This is Wagler's Pitviper, Wild Caught in TanaJampea, same locality with superdwarf reticulatus, in Jampea Island..
I doubt about the binomial name, some of call Tropidolaemus wagleri subannulatus, and some of call Tropidolaemus wagleri var., also I read in reptiles database, its still messier..
Here is the pict:

gorgeous!

how venomous is she for you to be free handling her?

if im not wrong, she has a hemotoxin, could be deadly for human, here are some death report of people that bitten by waglers, some of them are "lucky" because their condition well, but of course they had to done amputation on their finger because of tissue damage,
actually here is the serum for anti toxin, but unfortunatelly its not well published to laymans whom live in suburb area..
but, its depends on "X factors", i think you know what i mean, "luck"..
if only she bit me, and she didn't inject the much toxin,
or if only i wasn't really in a good condition,
or if only the first aid didn't meet the standart of procedures..

For the most part Waglers are pretty chill... Some Monks in Indonesia handle them frequently...

The fact still remains that this is a venomous species that can easily kill you or at the very least scar you for life... Certainly, that is not the correct way to handle a venomous snake... There are tools made to handle venomous snake safely... I still have a hard time figuring out why some people do not use them...

Anyway, beautiful snake and please be safe... You should atleast add a "Do not try this at home" type statement...

There's a temple here in Malaysia located in an island of Penang. It is known as the Snake Temple. Tourists will be greeted with loads of wagleris. Some are being "tamed" down for people to put on top on their shoulder and photograph. But little do they know that almost all "tamed" wagleris that are in the temple have been de-fanged. Once they are dead, they would just be replaced with other specimens.

Just for info.

p.s. And no, I don't support such practise. But that's the way it is there.

Regards

I ever heard this before, But I never hear before about de-fanged there.. I know they are tamed because of Monk's Pray only, and maybe its just the mythos, And I think that's so horrible if they just exploit Waglers for take a Photo there..:eek:
How is Wagleris color there? Is it Black, Yellow, and Green?
Resemble to Sumatran?

Wow!!! Those are some very stunning pictures of a truely beautiful snake!

Thank you for sending me a PM requesting the change. Free-handling a venmous snake should not be taken lightly and only left to those who know what they are doing and willingly understand they are risking their life.
