My leopard gecko, JACKIE are suffering from parasites, she has swollen belly, skinny and showing plevis and bones. She ate waxworms and seem dont gain weight and she could go to bathroom and she barely eat. it's better to put her to sleep. BUT. I'm not sure how this works. i dont know what common cost to take her to put to sleep. Please.
I tried everything to help her, i couldnt afford to take her to get better. its too late.

I'm so sorry this has happened :( you loved her very much. It may be too late to help her but, look at this http://reptaid.com/, it's a very good product for several things. I've used it on multiple species for different purposes, including suspected parasites, no appetite, even no poop.

I don't know what it costs to euthanize an animal at the vet's office, but a lot of folks put a reptile in the freezer in a container or plastic zip bag. Again, my condolences.

But that kind of thing, they charge you with dependning of it's size or? Im going to try call banfield inside Pets---mart. Hopefully.

I'm giving her waxworms and little oil to ease her to poop easy. if that does not help, she's still suffering with swollen belly with parasite infection. she would be put to sleep by saturday..

Have you tried deworming her? It seems for such an easy fix that putting her to sleep would be such a waste. If you don't get rid of teh parasite she won't get better. No matter how much she eats they'll rob her system of all the nutrients. So sorry you're going thru this. It's never easy.

I think you got repta-aid or repti-aid, it's not the same product as Reptaid, which is not available in stores. It's very concentrated and there are over 300 doses in the bottle.

I did tried both of this. I had bought Reptaid one off online and one repti aid in pet store. I tried on jackie. it didnt work. i gave her 1 ml. daily every 10 days.

Like I had mentioned tho, if you can't/don't clear the parasites anything you do to help the leo recover is going to be a fruitless effort. Panacure (fenbendiazole) is a broad spectrum dewormer and is sold over the counter and all you would need is to find out the doseage from a herp vet and follow a 3 day course. Repeat in 15 days for another 3 days and I know the panacure is cheaper the the reptaides.

There's really no more to tell. I know some other members here have used this so maybe some one else can give you the dosing regulations and where to get it, All I know is what is available for dogs and horses. I'm not sure if there is a difference for geckos from the panacur C that would be something to do a little research on google about.

Found this: standard Panacur suspension (100 mg/ml), you can dose 50-100 mg/kg

Ya know there IS a ton of info on the net about dosing panacur with leopard geckos, and you honestly should have been investigating this yourself as soon as you knew you didn't have the money for a vet to find out how to treat it on your own with little risk. I'd be all over the net trying to find a way to save my leo if it had something as easy to fix as pinworms. I'm really a bit taken back by your lack of innitiative on getting this matter resolved. Worms is the one thing you really don't need a vet to treat once you have diagnosis. A little time, desire, and research and you can do it all yourself. Insted you're talking about euthanizing what is a perfectly fixable leo because you can't afford a vet, but you CAN afford the meds, the repaide etc. Make sure if you get the panacur you also get a probiotic to restore the natural gut flora after the third dose because this stuff kills teh beneficial bacteria as well as the worms.

Next time do a little reseach before giving up on your leo and trying to treat the symptoms with out treating the disease. Sorry if this sounds pissy but it isn't rocket science. Your pet is suffering.

Parasites isn't a reason to put a leo down. Have you taken a fecal sample to a vet to have it tested, or are you assuming because of the swollen belly? If you're assuming, stop it, and take a fecal to a vet to get it checked out. It won't cost much, and neither will the treatment. Then everybody will be happy, your leo included.

I dont assmue that leopard gecko have swollen belly as paraiste infection, I found pinworms or little white worms in her poop, it was rare to see her poop. I panicked and i removed her towel and put it in cup and pour bleach in it. it killed them, i had to make sure it didnt spread to jackie. I bought reptaid like 4 month ago. I tried to treat her with 1 ml. and tried putting in crickets and worms. she refused to eat it and thats how it got empty.

Is there anyway you can get her to the vet? I do agree with Dog Shrink, the poor leo is suffering while we all talk on here. I think she should be taken to the vet for you to see the best results and to get the right diagnosis. Good luck with your leo. I am so sorry you have to go through this. I couldn't even imagine if any 3 of my babies got sick.
