walking in water dish

My 3.5 month old gecko has started walking through her water dish a lot. She doesn't wallow in it, but just walks through fairly frequently when she is out and about at night. She seems healthy & has a great appetite. Is this normal? My other leo won't set foot in his water.

OR just wait to see if she rearranges her ENTIRE enclosure by moving her hide so that it "hides" her water bowl and calcium dish.

Oh yes. I have a few cage rearrangers.
And while I think it's ADORABLE, it's a pain. Especially when it's a new gecko because I don't want to stress them out, but I have to set the cage accessories right.

Silly geckos!:main_laugh:

I had to cut off part of a hide in order to get to their pooping spot and when i put the geckos back in, one could just NOT comprehend what had happened. She kept climbing up, reaching out for a platform that wasn't there anymore, she looked at me in disbelief, crept down and up again and tried once more...finally she seemed to cope with it and found other ways to get up there, so funny!

Mine never seems to notice the water is there unless he's drinking it. He'll just drop right into the dish up to his elbows when he's walking around - he tried to grab a mealie out of it once, and got a faceful of water.

I love the wet feet, walk through the calcium and then go and scratch at the glass. Heck, I don't mind, what else do they have to do. Infact it gave me an idea to let them all paint a pix with nontoxic paint and let them walk across some art paper.

That's cute! It shows they do have memory and can think, doesn't it? I have a similar story; when Gel was young, he used to routinely moves from his humid hide to his rock hide around 10am everyday. One morning, I rearranged his tank and took out the rock hide. He came out from his humid hide as usual, and when he reaches the far end and didn't see the rock hide, he just stood there looking really lost. After a bit of thinking, he reversed back to his humid hide; but right after he entered his humid hide, he decided to go through the whole process once again, as if the rock hide will reappear if he starts his journey from the humid hide again! :main_laugh:

ROFL :laugh4:

Sometimes i wish we all had permanent cameras in their cages to capture things like this :D

I still say people dont give them enough credit for how inteligent they are :)

And i have 1 that every now and then does a water bowl poop and its not nice but i was just glad she pooped as she can be awkward sometimes and not do anything for days. Yeah it worried me at first but if she doesnt go for a few days a nice bath and everything is going again :)

My babies walk through the water dish a lot and do the whole into the water, then the calcium, splat it around a bit..rince and repeat :laugh4:
