Is the egg she already laid fertile? We've had a female lay a slug then lay a fertile egg about a week later.

I agree, I have a female that does that on occasion.

Robin, is she acting differently? Soaking herself in her water dish? Anything that would indicate that she's in pain or uncomfortable?

If she starts acting funny Robin, like she's in pain of any kind, you might need to give her an injection of Oxytocin...it's the same thing as Pitocin in humans, it induces labor.

update: i took her to the vet this morning (we have an awesome reptile vet) anyways he got all her info and illuminated her tummy saw fat pockets and some veining but her veins not egg veins. he could not tell from illuminating her tummy if she was holding an egg, so he x-rayed her. he found no calcification to point to an egg. so either she laid one and one egg only this time or the egg she is holding has yet to form the calcification layer, i just have to keep my eye on her. he thought she was gravid up until the x-ray. so now we watch and wait. hopefully she isnt holding the other egg. he says she needs to go on a diet LOL but i told him i was going to wait until after she finished laying and got back up to do that. he agreed.

I didn't breed her last year, but if I remember from the year before, sometimes she'd lay two eggs at a time and other times it was just one. I know that I have one female who will lay one egg every couple weeks (she uses both sides).

I'm glad she's okay. Sorry I didn't see this thread until now.
