....and that means I have to resort to crickets. I hate crickets. Hopefully my beetles will give me some babies that I can grow out soon. I only have about 10 beetles and a few pupae left. Just ordered 1000 3/8" and 1000 3/4" and 5 pounds of cricket gutload from mulberry farms. I was hoping to just get some silkies but they are out of what I needed. When I get some extra funds, I am so going back to roaches. Anyone else having better luck than me?

Sounds really bad in America...:( On the bright side... they are selling them in 5k bulks at £2.50 or $5 at my supplier... Not bad if you ask me... works out at 0.05p or 0.1 cents each...:D

I have canned crickets and canned mealworms(Zoo Med's) in the freezer that I feed my girl when i'm out of live ones. It lasts pretty long if you store it frozen. I didn't fully trust it at first, but she always loves it! :D

We finally got 1 beetle, but that won't do much good. That's the only one that's changed for us.:(

I don't think the beetles will breed in the fridge. The mealworms won't change to pupa in the frindge either.

You are correct. They need to be at least room temperature with some food in the container. I have a batch of beetles that have been laying like crazy for the last 2 months. The first batch of mealies is just now getting to a size that they can be used.

My beetles are in room temp but they aren't giving me mealies either :-( On the bright side I have found a site, hopefully I will be getting a 1000 in five days. I will keep everyone posted if they get here and healthy

Wow...this shortage seems to have jacked up the prices for anyone who does have any available for sale. Supply and demand I guess...

Whats the point in telling us your prices are way cheaper but you don't have any? Is that like pre ordering mealworms from you and never knowing when you will have them to ship?

I think he was trying to say they were expensive...and you don't have to pay that much...just find a cheaper place.

Ouch...LOL
Does anyone know when mealworms are supposed to bounce back from this? I expect after this, some or most will be breeding their own mealworms to avoid this from hitting them too hard in the future.

I just got abunch of Superworms from Rainbow. I think they said August when they will have reg. sized mealworms. I don't have many hatchlings now so I been ordering Supers. If I order Giants, the heatwave kills them faster then the leopard geckos eat them so its great to keep most in the fridge and keep out a couple days worth.

I normally would never spend that much, but hardly anyone has any right now and you can only order 500-1000. I would rather spend more than not have any. I'm sure there are some others who feel that way. I've been seeing 1000 going for around $12 right now, so that would be about right for 5000. Sunshine changed their statement and won't have any until at least August now. I paid $45 for 2000 from a local reptile place, so I was happy to find these. They're big and healthy, too.

David~most people sell them a lot cheaper. But everyone raised up the prices with the shortage.
