What age or size can you start feeding superworms?

I have a few month old Leo and he eats about 4 mealworms a day. A superworm is a little shorter than his tail. I put one in with him today and he looked at it like he wanted to eat it and licked it a few times but then I think it's size kind of scared him off. So I was just wondering about what age or size you start feeding supers at?

i have had hatchling leos eat supers...pick out smaller ones for them of course, but i've never had any issues feeding them to really any size/age leo.

Be careful when feeding super worms to any gecko. If they do not chew it up properly this worm can and will chew its way through the stomach. These worms are very large and should not be fed unless the gecko can handle them. There is an increased risk of choking too. Be careful. I usually try not to feed mine anything that is larger than the length of his head..Just my opinion!:)

supers will *not* chew its way through a gecko stomach. that is false. an urban myth.

:main_thumbsup:

Also. you'd be surprised at the size of prey these guys can take down. We don't give them enough credit, I think.

Of course, a young leo shouldn't have a massive super...try and feed smalllish ones until they're closer to fully grown.

Don't get offended..I love how you guys jump all over anyone that doesn't believe what you do. I read it in some book that supers WILL chew through a stomach of a chameleon..This also included geckos and other reptiles..These worms are extremely large. I am sorry what I READ is false. Don't get upset with me for it please and thank you.

That is a Chameleon, the reason is that usually a Chameleon rarely chews and chops unless it is really big unlike a Leo.I observe this with my chameleon. Also Chameleon have different enzymes in their stomach acid so they can not digest the exoskeleton of meal worms and super worms.
