Hi.

I am trying to get my adult leo, Bling to gain weigh. So fair he has not gained much at all. Very little. I feed him Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. I fed him just now, about 20 mealworms I am guessing. I didn't count. Today is not a day that I feed, but just looked hungry and was eyeing everything that moved. The two younger leos did this too. They are ALWAYS hungry. I feed them the same days I feed Bling, a little less in foods amount though. But they seem to always be hungry as well. I can't put my hand in Ebony's cage without him lunging at my hand thinking it is food. He is the runt. I usally feed Bling 10 to 15 mealworms each feeding. The babies get 8 to 11 mealworms each time. I dust their food twice a week.

So now to why I made this thread. Do you think I am feeding them enough? All I feed now is mealworms. No waxworms or extras. Just plain old mealworms. They seem to love them, and gobble them down really fast each time.

What am I doing wrong? Why do they seem hungry 24/7?

Help!!

Thank you,

Emma.

How old are they? You can try two things-leave a bowl of mealies for them or feed them daily. If you leave a bowl, start with about 5-6 maybe and see if the leos eat them. Also what size mealie are you feeding?

I would say Bling is around 10 to 11 months, and I got the two youngers leos on April 5. I feed a little larger then medium mealworms to them. I ordered the mealworms for medium, but now that I have had them, so have gotten larger.

Last time I left a bowl of mealwroms in 24/7, my leos lost interest and went on hunger strikes. So I un easy about doing this again.

Thanks for your help.

Most of my adult geckos seem to be trying to bulk up at this time of the year and are eating a lot. Just about the beginning of October, they slow down a lot. In the winter and spring I feed the adults every 3 days, but at this time of year I feed them every other day. All the hatchlings and juvis get fed every night. It's interesting that the youngest hatchlings' bowls and the older ones' bowls (the ones who are about 3 months old and weigh about 20 or more grams) are rarely empty when I check but the ones who are about 7-20 grams have completely emptied their bowls every night.
