Another vote for bearded dragon! These guys are awesome and have BIG personalities for their size! Some of the other lizards posted wouldn't be happy in a 75g for their forever home. Chinese water dragons are very similar in space requirements to an iguana.

Looks like alot of you recommend a bearded dragon. Guess ill be doing some reading up on them. See if thats what I want. I almost bought one of those instead of leos back when I got my first leos, can you believe that?!haha......

If I were you I would get a baby Savaanah monitor as they are great lizards/monitors and they can stay in that for a while and then you could upgrade,I will be getting one in awhile as I just love them.

For you that have beardies, I see there are alot of different things that you can feed them but am wondering what the majority of you feed them? And how many crickets do you guys go through a day? Also how long do you let them bath in the tub?

I vote beardie as well. I've kept them for 10 years now, but just adopted out my last one for space and such.

If you get a baby, he will FREAK in that large of an enclosure, plus babies can eat up to 1,000 crickets a week. Yikes. I'd get a sub-adult to adult. One would love that large of a set-up.

Never house more than one to an enclosure. They are purely solitary and there will be dominance issues. Same substrate as the leos, no sand or anything like that. Good ol' ceramic tiles work great, but so will paper towels or newspapers. Well, there is a lot to their care, I'll PM you a link to a FANTASTIC care sheet that I've been using for years.

Bearded dragons thrive with a lot of variety in their diets. They will definitely develop preferences and they'll let you know what veggies they don't like! I think that's probably the hardest part of a bearded. It's pretty easy to throw some crickets in a keeper for geckos, but with beardeds you have to do frequent grocery store trips and prepare food. It's not that time consuming, and it's definitely worth it!

Also, tegus can grow fairly quickly. I'd suggest against one unless you have the time, space, and money to build a large enclosure for him/her.

Bearded dragons are beat... No fun, pretty boring and pretty much inactive... In a 75 gallon with minor adjustments, you can house a trio of yellow ackies... Some of the coolest lizards around...

So do beardies eat crickets their whole lives then? Or are can they eventually move to mealworms like leos? And what would be a good list of greens/veggies/fruits to get the first time for them? Im doing alot of reading now on them.

And also is there anything that you can suggest as far as handling/caring/feeding/anything for beardies that you think that a first time owner should know? Sorry for all the questions, i wanna know all about them before taking one on.

I heard hedge hogs are fun pets that are growing in popularity but I think he was referring to Hog-Nosed Snakes, which I know nothing about.

Hog nosed sakes are really small. A 75 would be rather large for them. Plus easterns can be problem feeders. Gregg is right, ackies are great! A little on the high side as far as price goes but other than that they are awsome lizards.

Yes, one or even two could live in a 75. They only get about 16"-24" long. Their care is quite similar to beardies althogh I still recomend you research them. If you decide on them PM me and I'll help you find some breeders.
