I braught my little girl to vet yesterday because she wasn't eating. Just now she ran out of rock VERY VERY AGGRESIVE. Jumping and biting then looked to have a seizure. Screamed then stopped then aggresive agian and a second seizure. Did vet give her to much medicine? Whats wrong with her??? She lost a ton of fluid when she seizured. Has anyone seen this happen to a gecko!?!?!?!

I suggest calling your vet back to find out what it might be. What medication was she given? I don't have the experience, but somebody else might be able to assist if they know what meds she got.

Around.
Depends on what medicine they gave her. But yes it is possible to have overdosed, and damaged the brain.

I'm sorry for your loss.. :(

WOW.

Need a bigger history about this case. What exactly did the vet do while you were there? What kind of medication was given and how was it given? Were you sent home with anything? Is it possible the stregnth/dose of a medication was misread?

What kind of symptoms was this gecko having prior to your taking her to the vet? The only thing you noticed was the loss of appetite?

What did you do with her body? If it's in the refridge, you can have a necropsy done.

You need to contact this vet immediately. Ask that he or she TRIPLE check the dose and stregnth of each medication given. Actually, it's your legal right to be able to see her records yourself. It's very easy to mistake .04 for .4 trust me...

Explain to him or her exactly what happened in the moments leading up to her unfortunate death. Something just isn't kosher it seems...

I did call vet after first seizure. Got a call back when phone was off saying "to could be a bad reaction to the medicine and if it happens more then 3 times bring her in". Right after 3rd one which happened i want to say Saturday morning .. she had to Friday night, after Saturdays she passed. So really wasn't anything i could do. Vet ONLY sees reptiles turtles avian and other exotics. I have a feeling tho i brought in 2 geckos one about 50 grams and the girl who must of been 20 he only weighed big animal. Im thinking he may have giving them both a large dose based of the 50 grams weight. :-(

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your gecko. As Maia suggested, I would call the vet and ask to pick up copies of the medical records. Reactions to medicine happen but the vet made a mistake if in fact he did not weigh the gecko for the proper dosage. By finding out exactly what happened you might be able to help stop it from happening again in the future.

I'm in agreement with Maia here, too. What's the background on this?

This sounds like a terrible experience. How long has that vet been practicing?
Please don't take any pets back there, even if they can give you an explanation.
Which they certainly owe you at this point.

I am so, so, sorry for your loss; especially because it sounds it didn't have to be that way.

I am awfully sorry! What a terrible thing to have to go through.

When you get the records, if in fact you are correct and the records indicate the gecko was dosed for the 50 gram gecko, I would ask to either speak to the doctor or a technician and ask them one simple question: "How did you come up with the dose of the Baytril if you never weighed my gecko?"

You might want to consider taking some further action. If you'd like, you can find out some more information about your states veterinary board here: http://aavsb.org/DLR/ Use the scroll down menu and find your state...this gives you more information about who's in charge of licencing veterinarians in your state. These would be the people to go to if you choose to make a report. However, you should be sure he really made that mistake before you do so. Good luck, and if you need any further help, feel free to PM me for more legal stuff ;)

All's I can really say is wow. I can't believe that such a huge mistake was made like this.

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

I would agree with everyone and get ahold of them directly and question them on this. It was their error if this is how they dosed the gecko. Unfortunetally that doesn't help your situation, but maybe it can save another life somewhere down the line.
