Just wanted to get an idea of what people though was the min amount of leos they would take to a show to vend? Im estimating 30 for gas and 40 for a table. And I dont have anything real exciting to sell, thinking mostly 25 to 50 each. Thanks

Its only 25 for a 6 foot table but you still have to pay a 5 buck admission, and im plaining on my wife, a buddy and me so I figured 40 all togrther. How many leos can I fit on a 6' table? In deli cups of course. Should I have care sheets avalible and maybe a list of local herp vets? Only been to one expo and it was small compaired to the one im thinking of attending. Thanks

In my opinion, bring whatever you have (unless you have hundreds) so people will have a choice. If you have hundreds, bring a representative sample of each morph. I sold 10 at my recent biggest show (White Plains), though I'm sure other leo vendors sold more.

I'm trying to figure this out, too. I'd really like to vend at least a few times at the Wheaton show, but I'm not sure that I'll have enough geckos to bring.

I have yet to go to the Wheaton show, but those of you who plan on vending there, tell me how it goes. I may end up getting a table there this summer to vend.

You will have enough geckos believe me :) Every time I go most people have like 5-10 geckos only and the rest Crested Gecko so you should bring your geckos :)

To estimate gas I suggests using map quest type in your address, and the ending location then at the bottom it asks your for your MPG and it will estimate the cost of gas.

I vend at the Whaeton show. I'm also friends with Wally at Supreme gecko. He brings 12-25 leos a show it seems plus a few higher end morphs. Wally's a class act so I'm NOT sure if its his sales techniques, his sons, or the great animals he has. I know I've purchased several from him over the years and they are some of my best stock! Wheaton runs funny this past show I had @ 25 animals, crested geckos, bearded dragons and a couple of leos. Sold 1 leo, 6 cresties and a beardie. My sone then bought one...ugggghhhh! I had other shows with the same amount and came home with the same amount...Who knows.....I know the show before Christmas I heard opne guy sold over 5K in dart frogs(WOW) It just depends on the crowd that day, your table setup, whether your hung over, haven't showered etc. I usually bring all I can and try to make hay with that stuff! thats what I reccommend!...

Well i have 6 females for the year and 4 of them are virgins. I still have 6 that need to sell from last year and dont want to have more than what I can sell but still have a good selection. I know I can fill a table but can I sell a table (not in just one show obviously) is what I am wondering. I went in the whole last year from having more left over than normal and not breeding enough beetles. I just need to go to a show and take a look at prices and so on. Dose anyone have an Idea what tremper, (nothing better than a aptor) and shtct's go for at Wheaton. I dont want to be the top dollar leo seller just a afordable and healthy one for the everyday pet. Thanks for all the input, its vary helpful

Prices vary at each show. The best thing is to get there early set up stroll around and see whats avail. Then determine your price. Also, consider extra tanks, stuff thats laying around unused/never been used. I sold 2 18x18x24 exoterras yesterday and they made my show.....

Here's what I bring in addition to my geckos to "fill" my table: care sheets, "leopard geckos and kids" handouts, "on-line resources" handouts where I list a bunch of on-line websites, including GF, of course; leopard gecko set-ups which I assemble, ceramic gecko furniture that I make, and my "$4 box" which is a box of stuff I don't need that I sell for $4 an item.

Aliza, do you sell a lot of leopard gecko set ups? I tried that last year (not at a show) and kinda worked. I think I charged like 75 for a 10 gallon with the choice of a 20 dollar gecko and 20 longs I charged 135 and 2 20 dollar geckos. I didn’t make much on the 20 longs but did like 8 or 10 ten gallon set ups and made a decent profit. I would do 10 gallons all day for that price, $10 for a tank, $10 for a good cat proof lid, $3 for tile, what ever a coco nut costs (cut in half for 2 hides), cheap little plastic moist hide, $5 for a homemade rheostat, and some scrap flexwatt spray adhesive to the bottom. That was the last of the stuff I had laying around tho. I thought about getting like 5 10gallon setups on hand but don’t have the extra cash right now, I hate snow for work purposes love snowmobiling tho.

I sell 10 gallon set-ups (without the gecko) for $50 and 20 gallon long set-ups for $70. I look on ebay and craigslist for supplies and put them together with everything except gecko, food and water. I even include calcium without D3 and a calcium w/ D3/vitamin mix (Repcal and reptivite mixed 1:1 by weight). It depends on the show how many I sell. In 2008 I think I sold all 4 that I brought. It's really helpful if you have a first time gecko owner who can get the gecko and the entire set-up at one place. I also include my gecko caresheet and business card.

I think that the set ups are an excellent idea! I, for one, would have gladly bought a 20 gal one when I was setting up my first gecko tank. It was hard for me to figure out everything I needed and gather it all up from various sources.

Steve, I just caught this (a bit behind on my forum reading). I wanted to publicly say thank you for all the support you've given us over the past few years. Thanks for the kind works.... my sons would certainly say it is their excellent sales pitch and great looks that brings folks by the table :)
