I dont know weather to use super worms or wax worms, or both if it wouldnt hurt. I was just wondering if there is anything bad about wax worms, & how different they are compared to supers.

wax worms are high in fats and stuff kinda like candy for your reptiles so you shouldnt really use them for a staple diet iv heard kinda the same for supers too.. i use meal worms and crickets for my staple and wax worms once or twice a week

At the moment I'm using supers and a few dubia roaches. I don't feed wax worms in part because I heard they can't be gut-loaded because they only eat honey or something to that affect. Supers on the other hand eat anything in my mind making them a tad bit healthier than wax worms.

I use crickets every other day as the staple food, and I leave a bowl of mealworms with one or two supers every day (Mine are eating a lot right now :D). I'm awaiting a shipment of supers so I might start to add a few more into their bowls, because my guys love them. But from what I'm seeing the best way to feed your geckos is with a varied diet, so the more variety the better.

(edit) I didn't really read what you said properly, I thought it was between supers and mealworms. Yea, waxworms are a little fattier, so it's the same as a slice of cake for you. Figure that you can probably give them one a week or something like that.

Waxworms are fatty cheeseburgers, you'll be better off using superworms, crickets, roaches, etc...

For my reptiles I am now mainly using turkish roaches, but also use supers, regular mealworms, and crickets.

I try to vary their diet everyday if we have the money. I feed supers, wax, crickets, and dubias. I feed them like I like to eat. I would be so upset if i had to eat chicken all the time. I like a variety. Plus old habits die hard, I am always looking for different foods for my eastern box turtle so he doesn't become obsessed with just one type of food.

See, what I was thinking about doing, I buy a batch of 50 worms right now because I only have one leo, soon to have 2, WOO! I was going to order 50 supers, & when those were gone I was going to order 50 wax worms, ya know, vary back & forth. You guys think that would be ok?

Did you mean to say mealworms instead of waxworms? Waxworms don't have enough nutritional value to meet a Leo's dietary needs. Mealworms, on the other hand, would be fine to alternate with superworms.

Wax worms do not have enough nutrients to be a dietary staple in a leopard geckos diet. I would reccomend super worms, meal worms, crickets, and dubia roaches. In our setting we use a combination of supers, mealies, and crickets.

I would advise that using more then one feeder as to provide variety due to each feeder having different percentages of nutrients.

Waxworms shouldn't be 50% of the diet, that's way too many even if you're rotating with superworms. I'd rotate with some other kind of feeder insect, and keep the waxworms as just a special treat for every once in awhile. I've also heard of people's geckos getting "addicted" to waxworms, and it wouldn't be good if you tried to switch back to a healthier feeder and your gecko refused.

I wouldn't stick to feeding just waxworms for any period of time. Go to you lps and get a small container of them and only feed 1 or 2 a week. An exclusive diet of just waxworms will make your gecko very fat, and reluctant to eat anything else. That's why waxworms are called "gecko crack."
But they are really good to use when you have a stressed/sick/underweight/anorexic gecko. They help keep weight on and can stimulate the appetite (in my experience anyway).

I feed Turk roaches and mealworms mostly, with crickets occasionally and wax worms every once and a while (no more than 2-4 a week for the growing babies, 1 a week for adults). And it's true, waxworms only eat honey and beeswax (they are natural pests of beehives) so they really can't be gut-loaded with anything else. Don't keep them in the fridge btw, if you do get some, they will die (it's really too cold for them).

I would consider using supers if i wasnt a huge chicken :(

They seem a pain to breed and ive read they can bite, so i dont wanna get any hehe.

Im breeding mealworms and my dubias are settled in nice and growing so my geckos will have more food variety soon hopefully :) Theyve also had crickets b4 but i really hate them, and locusts...which i actually prefered to the crickets and the geckos loved them :)

Ive only had 1 tubs of waxworms since i got my geckos and my female loves em but my male isnt that bothered, although he yummed up a moth hehe
