Well, today was the first time I held a snake! :) I have always been kinda afraid of them. But, having two living with me now *One is my roomies, and other is a friends ..she is keeping here till she gets her own place* I have adjusted to looking at them. And have even touched my friends Carpet Python. And Still havnt touched my roomies Baby Rainbow Boa..*he sometimes darts at her face, and it scares me LOL* And the python is a Pussy Cat :) But, I have Never HELD one. So, I took the plung. Went to a petstore, and had them pull out one of the baby Corn Snakes.. OMG it was sooo pretty! And I LOVED holding it. Feeling it between my fingers! Very neat! So, After 30 min I put it away as I didn't want to take too much time from the associate! And went to a reptile store, and pulled out another one! :) I couldn't resist! :) Another baby of course. But it was amazing. I was super comfy with it. And used the tips my roomie gave me in touching the python.. and it went great! Now, I am researching them more and more. There is a Reptile Expo thing next weekend I am gonna go to. And May MAYYYY Consider getting one! :) WE shall see though.

But, My question is this.. Is there a particular morph that is Better at being handled then another? Is one sex better then another? I will be reading up on these more and more the next week.. and see if I am comfy enough with trying a new animal or not. Make sure it is the right thing for me. And all that.

And to think my first Reptile was my Leos :) I have 3 of those. Now I don't know if I will ever be without a reptile! LOL!

So, I would love your opinions on Corns.. and any info I should know for a first time Snake Owner.

Well I don't know what to tell ya...mine is sweet as can be, there are pictures of him in another thread here. I have heard about their snappiness though.

I think a corn is a great starter snake for those just getting comfortable with it all.

Yea, I heard that Kings can be... a Bit.. testy. LOL I know Corns can Bite and all.. But, They are normally sweet if handled enough. So, that is why I am looking to get a Baby to get it used to me and all. LOL

i have an albino banana calfornia kingsnake and she is MEAN!!!

I have heard both ways, my friends banana kingsnakes name is Beany B****, but there is one for sale at work, sweetest thing, bit me once, didn't feel a thing but I highly recommend a corn for your first snake, very docile, they don't constantly move like kingsnakes and they only get about 4ft in length and a 20 long is quite comfortable for them.

I highly HIGLY recommend looking and holding all the snakes you can at the show, and make sure not to get one too small because your bound to have feeding problems, so if your unsure, even if it's gorgeous...I'd pass it up.

Ask about feeding, how long has it eaten, is it gaining weight consistantly, AAAAA I just sneezed while typing this and totally pulled a muscle in my neck, uhhhh owwwwwwwWWW.....

Anyways *as she rubs her now stiff neck* YOu really should buy Kathy Love's Cornsnake book, it will have all the information you need on Cornsnakes, from illnesses, to probbing, to morphs, to well anything practically.

Anyways, Even though kingsnakes are gorgeous and amazing, they are known to get an attitude if not handled regularly. They are also faster, and I would say a lot Braver!!!

Anyways goodluck!
