We have hatched dozens of 'low grade zeros' and stingers like alex from our patty projects. I just plan dont understand this gene at all....lol I really think they are a neat gene, but if byproduct from the patty project are identical I dont see the difference. IDK

Pat, where did you get your Patty's from?

Pat, i think the difference with the Zeros is when it is combined with other morphs like the Whiteout. I am will be working on Zero x Amel this season to see if they are compatible, which I think they will be.

bryan, that pic is of a stinger that has lightened up I spoke to jeff when he first took that pic, its not an albino. also was told the zero to amel doesnt work either. it seems the amel gene is the non compatible gene.

Pat, where did you get your patty's from? That could explain why you are getting similiar hatchlings. The reason I say this is that Patty's offspring like Alex has, has not been seen until recently. Most likely it was from crossing Patty's with Zero's or Patty's with Zulu's and then the physical unnoticable offspring are being sold as Patty's. Check with the breeder you got them from, they may have Stinger/Zero or Zulu in them but didn't show any physical signs.

This is an updated pic of the hatchling posted at the beginning of this thread.

Thad, not to knock on your post. But now with you showing us your hatchlings i am so confused with this Zero Gene. Why dont my Zero look like the ones you have producedd? And why are all the Zeros Jeff shows look nothing like these, they have no bands, hence the name 'Zero'. Is this why he labels normal looking babies from Zero offspring as 'zero sibs', b/c he doesnt know if they are zero's or not? :main_huh:

I just bred my male zero to my white out, how can i tell a zero from a normal? A zero whiteout from a normal whiteout? :main_lipsrsealed:

The new babies that hatched looked like many babies i have hatched from my patty projects (aberrant saddlebacks) and i have heard many people refer to the aberrant saddleback pattern as 'het patty markers'.

The update of the first zero, or 'stinger' lol, that hatched looks great, it certainly looks different, but if it wasnt for the Sire being a Super Zero, there would be no way to know 100% if it was a Zero or not.

Have you talked to Jeff, about this whole array of questions that seem to be popping up?

I dont think the Zulu would come into play here, i mean its a brand new recessive trait, the pattern is consistent (somewhat from gecko to gecko) and looks nothing like a Zero to me.

Also i got my het pattys from Kelvin Soto from Touch of Class Reptiles, and his business closed down, and he has been lost in the retile world since.

When i bought them from him he said they came from Craig @ Urban.

I'm gonna see what info i can dig up though :main_robin:

Didn't Touch of Class get a bunch of fatties from JMG at one time. I remember him posting a white out for sale a while back. Could he of got some Patternless too? I know Jeff bred the Zero's/Stingers to his patternless and had 0 out of 30+ come out patternless. He did sell som as patternless hets.

Touch of Class was a huge mess!!!!

He did get Zeros and Whiteouts, but i have talked to jeff and he said he didnt get any of that stuff from him. All he said he sold him was a male het. patty.

Kelvin told me they came from Urban, so thats what im going by.
Could they have possibly come from JMG, i dont doubt it.

But either way, most het. pattys have those "markers"...the Zero gene now has me....STUMPED! :main_angry:

What about the Idee, that Urban got Zero and wanted to proof with patty and got low grade zero het patty which got sold? Would be as fun as with the zulu lol

I have have gotten het. pattys that look like the geckos in the second picture, and the last picture is what I expected all zeros to look like.

They look great though Thad! The first one has some serious blushing!

Also i have Zero x Whiteout eggs due to hatch in early September so ill post pictures of the hatchlings. My Whiteout has laid 6 eggs (2 were duds), so i got 4 fertile eggs cooking and she should be laying two more soon. Also got Patty eggs coming from Urban het. Patty x JMG het. Patty, I'll post pics if i get anything strange from that pairing too
