thank you so much. :D
im quite used to dealing with little scrapes but this was somthing else. i rele think he was trying to kill her :O
luckly it just seems to be top flesh wounds. unfortunately the vet was unable to save any flesh or stitch the wounds so its going to be a long process of healing from the inside out, i just hope she pulls through and survives!

Thats too bad.Why were they together? If u were trying to mate her with the male I dont think she was ovulating and receptive.I'm assuming since you've bred b4 u made sure she was ovulating correct?.She was trying to get away it looks like obviously not receptive.U said u were"quite used to some scrapes" well if they had previous scrapes why did u not seperate them then ??

She'll be fine. Just keep her in a dry and clean environment, and with the vet's medication to prevent infections, I'm sure she will heal up soon. Poor girl. :(

Shallow flesh wounds will heal up fine with a good course of treatment. I recommend using plain paper towels in the cage at least during the open wound stage, they are easy to change out when soiled, and help in keeping injuries clean to avoid potential infection. Just curious, what meds did your vet prescribe?

they have mated lots of times and the pair always produce top quality offspring. this male gets passed around all the femails i have, every thing was done properly as it always is but it just seems she didnt want to and he didnt like that or prehaps he just got to rought and she didnt like it :S

hes now been permanently! seperated and will no longer breed from this one so as not to pt any other femail in danger.

what i ment by "scrapes" was general tail nips from over excited feeding and scratches where they climb over each other and things, none of my breeding animals have ever forte before.

I think you should show those pics to any noob that asks if they can keep Leos together! This is an example of what could happen if housed together, and then show them those pics, Im sure that would deter just about any noob! It would me:main_yes::main_yes:

I too have seen a little nip and things like that but even lots of bad situations I have read about I have never seen it like that with whole sections missing. I have seen some pretty bad bites but they way she just looks "skinned" is the first I have seen. At least you done the proper thing and got her medical attention. Everyone always thinks it will never happen to me but it does as long as the right actions are taken and the animal in question is getting care thats all any of us can do. Good luck!

I get frustrated when when ppl insist on keeping leos together.I'm not talking about this op but other ppl. They are bound and determined whether its a shortage of room or what but they insist on keeping leos together.Chances are most leos get along for a short time but the injuries are bound to happen sooner or later.

getting vet help is great and all that but what about preventative measures to eliminate the problem in the first place?? IMO leos should always be housed individually !! Those injuries are pretty severe imo.And it wasnt just a brief scuffle by the looks of things. The 2 of them had to have a pretty long fight to get those injuries

Good point. Was the male in any way hurt? Or did the female sit there and let him do it? As mentioned that looks like she was skinned0.0 Im shocked. Ive heard males can kill females but wow never did i expect them to skin a mate like that>.> ouchie. Best wishes she gets better. Its gonna be some big scars there....it always happens to the favorites

the whole fight did take place in seconds! the time between hearing he bangs and running to the cage was seconds. opening the door is what scared him to let go, he was throwing her against the wall :(

In your original post U used the word cage mate meaning u were housing the two leos together ??.IMO there is no way that battle took seconds like u said.To me that is considerable damage to the tail and side of the leo. There is no way it took seconds like u said for that damage to happen. Its not like there were bite marks. He literally torn skin off her tail and sides. That took more than seconds to happen..I am really upset that the leo has to now suffer
