WOW is an understatement, what a thread too the owners,all the best to the poor victims,i'm glad sausage she doing so well thats awesome,i'm sure its a fear all must have,and in no way would want too see happen too any of our little friends....... temperament of animals can change so quick and i see it way more often breeding fish,its noting for a male too turn on the group......can only take preventives and hope in certain cases..........and i mean after years of breeding well together........i agree this should be a sticky of what can happen and the routes taken too recovery..........those pics broke my heart.......

wow rick what a poor thing. pippas wound on the side only just reached the internal cavity and the opening was only small, im so glad every thing stayed in :S
it breaks my heart to think they are in so much pain. thats like you getting eaten by a shark! :(
I totaly support not breading with him again. im not with mine, im to scared to

Good thing you were there, surely he would've killed her. Do you happen to have any recovery pics? During and after you can post for everyone to see?

And yes, very good idea about pulling the male from breeding. I'd do the same too. I'd be way too paranoid about it happening again.

I will take a new pic of her tommrow for you. shes fully healed now and the scars have almost shed right out, shes still quite afraid :( flips out if she can smell any males, which is sad but i wont put her through the stress of breeding her again if thats how shes going to be from now. id rather she wasnt scared

Sorry its late people but here she is all well :D

the pic of her side: the red line shows all thats left of the scar now its been shed out.
the pic of tail: area between red lines is new tail skin. its lost all its ridges and is very soft and squishy but the spots have come back :)

That's an amazing recovery! This is the first time iv seen this thread. And to be honest, I didn't expect the outcome to be like this. Very pleased for you, she's lucky you care so much.
I can't get over how well that's healed lol, I really am amazed :D
