She looks better and healing. Baytril can be harsh on their system and cause her to feel poorly, throwing off both feeding response and intake. It's good that she is accepting the slurry, very good. That will go a long way in her keeping up some strength. You loving her thru it as you have been doing is all you can do to ease her discomfort. Good job!

That's great news. Serious conditions like this do take a good while to recover. Progress is progress no matter how small, even if it seems like it takes forever :) Looking forward to new photos!

Awww she is looking sooo MUCH better. and I don't thinkg her weight is bad at all. She looks plump and healthy which is surprising given all she's been thru. You're doing an awesome job :main_thumbsup: keep up the good work :main_yes:

Just got linked to this thread after having a somewhat similar problem with fighting and one lizard ripping a large chunk of skin off of another. It's very different in that my girl lost skin on the top of her head :( but it's so heartening to see that there is a chance that such a large chunk has even the merest possibility of healing. Your girl's side looks great! And that's about the size of my Fifteen's wound, so *thumbs up*!

Would you mind giving me a run-down of what and how much medicine your girl was on? The vet I've talked to is advocating a wait-and-see approach, so I'd like to see what she thinks about what obviously worked for you!

awww I’m so sorry to hear about that :( but yes I found it sooo hard especially that I couldn’t seem to find anyone else with the same problem. I really didn’t think she would make it but look at her now!!
I will post more pic today as she’s looking fab.

Going through the vets cost me bout £300 altogether but I chose to because I was so worried with the two wounds that there was a greater risk of infection. With you it’s even more important because the slightest infection so close to the brain and eyes will not be good.

So the first thing I did was wash the wound in warm water and isolated her completely. She had paper towels that were changed every day and even card hides that were thrown away too lol I was a bit ott :D

For the first two weeks I used "lacri-Lube" eye ointment to cover the exposed flesh using a cotton bud to apply an even layer all over twice a day, along with 0.2ml of baytril 2.5% oral solution once a day.
(lacri-lube is 42.5% mineral oil so as well as keeping the flesh away from dirt it also helped to soften it up, she did also eat sum :S but the vet said that was okay it wouldn’t harm her.)
Once the wound under looked like it was trying to heal the lacri-lube and baytril was stopped. One to give the wound time to dry and scab over and two because baytril shouldn’t be used for too long. I did however keep the lacri because she still was shedding every two weeks and would bite and rip the scab off making it bleed so I’d just put a really small amount on the scab when I knew she was shedding to help make it more comfortable. At least yours cant reach it if is on the head :)
And that’s about it really. She continued to shed once a week to two weeks and the scab would fall off just like it dose with us. Every time if fell off the wound would get smaller as new spotty skin grew around the edges. Once it’s fully healed it will still take a few months of shedding until it’s fully back to normal.

I was so amazed to see that the new skin was spotty even the vet thought that with such a big wound it would just be a funny colour patch. lol

feel free to ask any more questions and ill try my best to help, i hope this helped a little already though.
good luck :)

Didn't notice this thread till now, so sorry for chiming in so late. I too had this problem so i thought I'd share a little input. I had put this girl in (her first time breeding) with a male that had bred for me for 3 years without incident. I do not house any of my geckos together. I put them together and keep a close eye on them until they are done breeding. This happened literally in seconds, I couldn't reach in fast enough, and i was standing right there. So anyone that thinks this couldn't happen that fast, think again!! It's hard to see the real damage done in the picture, but not only was the skin ripped off, but there was a open gash on the bottom side of the wound, reaching almost an inch across. When i picked her up to try and treat the wound, part of her insides came out of the gash. It was the most horrid thing I've seen with any of my reptiles. Fortunately when i set her down it all went back inside on it's own. as for treatment i use Povidone Iodine 10% (diluted with water) to clean the wound, and treated it with non medicated Neosporin. I made sure to keep her tub clean constantly. It was a slow recovery but she did make a full recovery. It did take her a while to get back to her normal eating habits, and she is a little sketchy now. I haven't bred the male since and i'm a little hesitant too.

Oh WOW. That poor girl :( Lucky you were there or he may have killed her :( You're right, it only takes a minute- or less. Don't blame you a bit for pulling the male from your projects, I would too. IDK if gex continue with that type aggression once they start, but its sure enough to make you hesitant. Thanks for posting your situation.
