A week ago I purchased a 36g female at a reptile expo. I didn't handle her much for a few days but then noticed she looked quite plump. Well now I am sure she is ovulating and it looks like a white egg.
Here are a couple pics.

She weighs 40g now and I am concerned that she is too small.
I called the breeder and left a message yesterday, but he hasn't returned my call. So I don't know if she was housed with a male or what.

I need to know what to do. Does she need a lay box?
I wasn't prepared for this. But it is stuff like this that makes this hobby fun.

Thanks in advance.

Yes,

she is gravid. Put a laybox in her tub with spaghnum moos or coco-fiber. But she is to small. After laying you should fatten her up to 55-70g.

A female as small as 25g can ovulate and produce eggs, even without a male bred to her. This however would mean the eggs are not fertile. There's a very good chance that she may absorb the eggs.

Make sure you continue to dust the feeder insects with calcium, you may want to increase the dustings to every feeding if you don't already do that... also, be sure she has her own bowl of calcium, as females sometimes frequent the calcium dish much more than usual while gravid.

My Bella laid 2 eggs last night. The eggs are white and feel firm so I am assuming they are fertile. I don't have an incubator but will try to figure something out today. Leaving them in the lay box for now.

Tried to get her to eat a superworm but she didn't seem interested. I don't think she has eaten anything for a couple days.

Poor kiddo... Maybe try one or two waxworms?

Did you ever get the breeder to respond as to how she got this way in the first place?
It's unprofessional, at the very least, to knowingly sell an underweight (for breeding), gravid female. Either they had to know, didn't care, or (more worrisome still) didn't know it could happen and perhaps shouldn't be breeding...

Some help please....out of my league

I have a 9 month old leo who is gravid and doesn't eat but every 4th day.

Temps are fine and she is alert and active but all of a sudden stopped eating every day right after a shed.

How long will she carry the eggs before she lays them? She's been plump for a while and we first saw the eggs in her belly about 3 weeks ago

She has a dish with coco shells and has been digging for a week but still nothing.

She is the only gecko we have and have had her for 8 months so I know she is infertile but will she absorb them or is she egg bound?

Thanks.

Well, I held her above a light in clear plastic container and it appears that there are two eggs (one on each side) but I'll admit I'm no expert.

If she's never been with a male, she will most likely reabsorb them. But, if she doesn't reabsorb them she will probably lay them soon.

An eggbound female will be sluggish and unwilling to eat at all.

Keep in mind her infrequent eating may just be due to the time of year..
