I just paired these up; the male is from Eric at OG and the female is one of the originals imported by Alberto. Also took some new shots of some of my babies (same afghan dad, different afghan mom). I really love these little ones!

They're gorgeous Kelli! Please let me know if you have any males available this season.

afghans / pure

Thanks, I think I am going to keep my afghans pure for now.

Hi Kelli.......
since IDKPAA
(I don't know poo about afghans),
I've done a little searching and reading.
Your afghans look more interesting than most to me.
(due to pattern lay out)
Also the reading material indicates a sub species
of smaller size. (with size comparison photos)
Is that interesting unique look of yours
because of the Pure comment?
And the adults do not appear to be a smaller species.
Just curious, since it seems there is so much
sign of interest in afghans.
Thanks.
Take care. HJ

Hi HJ

E. m. Afghanicus are petite and slender for the most part. Now with that said you do have some that just don't follow the rules. An Afghan adult can weigh 36-56 grams once again falling into the quite smaller than on average a 60-75 gram E. macularius.
From my findings male Afghans will breed safely at 36 grams with no issues, also my females seem to start ovulating around the same weight, also with no issues. My original pair, female maxes out at 55 grams and my male 42 grams. Afghans don't conform to one color pattern but seem to vary from a intense yellow speckled pattern to bold black bands. For the most part they all have in some degree a "party tail" splashes of high yellow, orange, and lavender in no specific pattern down the tail. Head patterns also vary from the "four-eyes" look to yellow or black nose band, with once again no specific pattern being held as the default pattern.:main_thumbsup:

Hi Eric.
That pretty well supports my findings.
I guess what else it goes along with is
telling it's a afghan is pretty tough unless
the trust factor is there.
Some bold snows appear similar and one
I hatched even on size (38 - 40 G.)
and slender body appearance.
Like the old saying:
If you don't know your meat, know your butcher.
Take care. Thanks. HJ
