Beginner Comparison...

Leopard Geckos and Corn Snakes are both considered entry level reptiles i was just curious of what people who hav both think are more docile.

corn snakes are more a gogogo reptile where leos are more docile but if you are looking for something that is most docile aft is the way to go

Most Leopard Geckos are as docile as Fat Tails. The occasional Fat Tail can be snappy at times. Then again, I've got a leo I hatched last year that is just a vicious animal. I open the tub and this gecko lunges at my hand with teeth 'a blazing. I'll have to work with this one. I've even thought of giving it away, but who wants a vicious leo? lol

I don't own any corn snakes so I can't really comment on that. Definitely stay away from Speckled Kingsnakes though. They're uh... not the friendliest, at least not the ones I've got. If you haven't seen my thread in the Colubrids section where a Speckled tried to eat my finger it's worth a look.

i've had both. i don't recall ever being bitten by a cornsnake.

i have, however, been bitten more than once by leopard geckos mostly while trying to help them shed or while sexing hatchlings. my daughter was as well and claims that it went to the bone...

it just goes to show you that anything with a mouth can bite and given the opportunity some will.

Let's see,

Leopard geckos are very good pets, they can sit still and lay on you. While corns like to alway be on the go. I won both, so I would have to chose teh leo.

It mainly depends on what you want! There both mainly the most docile lizard and the most docile snake you can get. So what you might want to ask is who would rather a snake or lizard. Most people would probably say the leopard gecko over a snake but I think they are prety close. Once again it depends on if you want a snake or a gecko!

I agree with the Comment stated above because the care and temperament in both species is relatively similar. Overall it does come down to whether you want a Snake or a Lizard.

Tough question. I've been bitten by both young and neither is traumatic, Never by an adult corn but got hit by a big patternless yesterday, other than a stain for the laundry (no blood involved!) that wasn't so bad, so I'll go with my standard answer........."Can you make me a deal on both of them?"

Since both are similar, you may want to consider where you would take it. IE if you plan on taking it to college or somewhere similar with you, I think that roommates would generally be more accepting of a leo than a corn snake (not that either would hurt someone, but you know the whole snake fear thing)

Then there's the matter of food ... but I guess this isn't a question about that.

I like my gecko. He has legs. :tongue3: He's got spirit - he'll squawk at me and wriggle if I pick him up a way he doesn't approve of - but I like that.

Don't know much about snakesss. But like a few people have said ... if you like snakes, you want a snake. You like geckos, get a gecko.

I have both. They are both pretty mellow. The corn likes to move most of the time. The leo is so cool he just sits on my shoulder when I am walking around the house or gaming at my PC he is pretty chill. I have a beardy too, I think they are the most docile lizard.

Leopard gecko's are more docile, they can't escape (usually) and mothers like them more than snakes

Id think that this poll isent exactly right, dont get me wrong, i love leo's, its just the fact that this is gecko fourms, im sure you you went to some type of snake form and asked the same question you would get diffrent resaults
