Well I disagree with you on RT just randomly naming things because he can...and yes he can. For him it is his career, why jeopardize it for falsifying a bull crap story. Also if they were injecting the geckos with some form of color enhancer or anything then it wouldn't be genetic and thus carry not true market value. Just as a blue leo seems far fetched so did almost every other morph when they were first being worked on. I think if it is genetic and provides healthy geckos then he will release it after he has at least 2 years of established bloodlines, which goes back into its his career. He has to guarantee he is selling good animals and should/will hold back however long he thinks needed before a release.

"Tremper's smart enough to discontinue this project if it's producing weak geckos, right?"

uhh....

Should clarify that my post has nothing to do with his level of intelligence or "smarts", because we all know he is a marketing genius! I just personally don't think he would throw aside a project like this even if the end product were inferior geckos because there is $$$ to be made...

It is amusing to see that, when facts are in short supply, assumptions are not and tend to range far toward the negative end of the spectrum.

i know for a fact that they have been injecting food dye into fish eggs for "neon" fish in pet stores. it wouldnt surprise me if these leos came from a similar method.

I doubt ANY big breeder would try something like this. The big breeders are in it not just for the fun and the hobby, but because there is money to be made. If you are injecting dye into eggs, people will realize that it is not genetic after a couple of seasons, thus they will not be pumping any more money into the line. Ron is a master of money, and I doubt he would do anything that stupid. I wouldn't put it past some small time breeders from around my neck of the woods though (not mentioning any names).

To those of you saying it is photoshopped.... if you know anyone with that much skill to photoshop without altering the pixelation AT ALL, pleas let me know! I have a few things I'd like to send them to do for me.

Well put.

We all know Mr. Tremper keeps the specifics of his unreleased projects tightly under wraps. I still don't think he's released a whole lot about the xanthics. This is probably also why he hasn't released anything about the deaths of these leos. I'm sure he's somewhat narrowed down which parents they came from, and chances are that the deaths somehow are somehow realted to the genetics, or at least he might suspect that. Sooooo... if the deaths are due to genetics, why release the genetics of a project that you haven't mastered?

Let me just point out that that was all purely speculation though.

I wonder if he performed a necropsy on the gecko that died. It would be interesting to know if the death was related to a congenital defect.

I always get worried when you see blue in leopard geckos. Because their skin is so thin, blue is often a sign of internal hemorrhaging. Ron Tremper misidentified a "blue morph" before, and this was published in his book (see page 169). The mysterious blue spot was later identified as a blood rich benign tumor (forget the exact name).

I would love to know if he has truly stumbled upon something new, but until more information presents itself, I remain skeptical that it's going to be a trait we really want in our leopard geckos.

Well knowing the type of person Ron Tremper is, I highly doubt he would release photos of project animals that were not somewhat proven... Do you think that there are only 1 or 2 examples of these blue leos??? I can tell you 100% that there are thriving examples of this new morph that are being raised to breed...

I can also tell you that Ron is highly ethical and is an all around great guy... He did not get to where he is by being unethical... Its funny how people can talk negatively about a man they have never met or even spoken to...

Just a reminder...
Negative talk about a breeder or their ethics will result in an infraction...

A lot of work from Ron Tremper has contributed to the Leopard Gecko Community. I have read two of his guides and always appreciate his knowledge. I agree with Gregg.
