Several years ago, I had a catahoula that was THE best dog ever. I never trained him to do anything, he just came that way. When he a little over a year, I had him cut some cows for me, and he'd never even seen one, no training! He had more personality and more intelligence than many people I know. He got hit broadside by a car going about 50 mph, right on the front bumper and flew about 80 ft. It knock off a small patch of fur that grew back light gray, other that that, it didn't do anything to him. He was a deep chestnut color, brindled with faint gray spots, one eye hazel, the other one crackled. Now that I think of it, he may not have actually been from this world...

I haven't had a dog since, and may never again because it couldn't possibly be better than him. IMO, Catahoula Leopards are the very best dog in the world.

Enjoy that pooch, Robin, and rest in peace, Ballo my best friend. I still cry when I think of you for very long at all...

thanks guys! she is so sweet! you should have seen me bathing her last night LOL

it was sad. they had her on a ten foot chain because the granny was afraid she would jump up on her grandson or the two month old, playing, and accidentally hurt them. i feel bad both for the lady and cali.
she is a bit on the thin side. we are taking her to the vet next week for a vet visit. we are going to have to slowly acclimate her to our dogs since she has been so secluded from other dogs for the past two months. she doesn't give a poo about the cats though.
she is food aggressive so we are going to have to work on that. i think once she settles in she is going to be an excellent addition to our family!

she has super long nails! she would let us clip them but they are so long i would feel better getting the vet to clip them. poor girl

I love her already.

I'd call her kinda merle-ish. That's one of the cool things about catahoulas, there are scads of different color and eye combos. I guess it's what happens when a breed is developed based on working ability and not on uniformity of appearance.

And I'm with Ariana, that last pic is priceless.
